• How could you treat a wound?

Alright, so after watching a bunch of movies and games and hearing about these insane school shootings that took place a few years back, I have to ask myself. If you are suffering from a Gunshot wound, or suffering a fatal cut/stab wound. How could I fix it while help arrives? What happens if the hot cheerleader that was sitting next to you got shot in the limb? You could probably be a hero in her eyes if you know how to save her from her wounds before paramedics got onto the scene, or even before the police come for the gunman that just passes by your classroom. And I absolutely hate the possibility of just having to watch your friend next to you just bleed out while you can't do anything. Now my scenario involves a school scene after a crazy gunman just shot up a few students in your class. And this is just purely based off of games, movies, and from my Aunt who is a Major in the Army Nurse Corps who told me a few things. These are a few items I happen to carry to school on me which could be put to great use. Your hands are going to get fucking bloody, so if you cannot stand the sight of blood, try to muster up your leadership and direct the other students trying to help. The FIRST thing you should try to stop the blooding is to apply PRESSURE. Get your hands to cover the wound, even use some tissue or paper towels laying around in the classroom to stop the bleeding. Belts If you happen to have one around your waist, and you could coil it tight enough, this could also be improvised as a tourniquet for leg wounds, or if the student that was wounded could probably be obese around the thighs and arms. Clothing Tearing off strips of cloth should also be useful for tourniquets, but both the iPod headphones and the Belts could be easier to access, and you can't really tear precise strips with your teeth. :siren: IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE TOURNIQUETS :siren: Tourniquets are used to stop the bleeding of a wound by cutting off as much blood flow towards the wound by tightening some sort of strip around the limb on which the wound is located. (Be sure that the tourniquet is ABOVE the wound, in other words, it needs to cut blood flow to the wound). What you also need to know is that you MUST loosen the tourniquet as occasionally as possible in order to keep blood flowing to the other parts of the limb in order to keep it from dying and having it to be amputated afterwards. (The hot cheerleader you'll be saving won't be grateful for that.) If help does manage to arrive and the Campus-Drop off is located on the other side of the school campus, you may need to take the initiative to get her there. :siren: If you do believe the the Gunman/men have not yet been shot down by Police/Swat, DO NOT LEAVE THE SAFETY OF YOUR CLASSROOM :siren: If the gunmen are dead and you really need to get your cheerleader out of there, then you could carry her out in a few ways. :Siren: If you lack the confidence to carry a 100+ pound person, it's best to seek out the jock in your classroom. :siren: This is the Fireman's carry, you would hook your arm underneath on of your classmate's legs, and your other hand would be holding onto your friend's arms to keep him/her from falling. This is the Bridal Hold, if the person you are saving is indeed a hot girl, or a cheerleader, it's best you could do this. DO NOT HAVE HER HEAD DANGLING OUTWARDS, MAKE SURE THE HEAD IS RESTING ON YOUR CHEST! . This does seem rather heroic, and she could always look up to you while your carrying her to safety. This hold is also great, and would be a little easier for you, and the wounded while you're getting him/her out. (Name please) :siren: SUGGESTIONS ARE UP AND OKAY. :siren: I am also unsure on how you should COVER the wound, or to clean it.. :siren: P.S. I'm not suffering from a stab/gunshot wound ATM. :siren:
Well I mean any kind of clean cloth or fabric should staunch the bleeding if you apply pressure A t-shirt works okay
A fatal wound. What.
I'd use a piece of clothing that's as clean as possible as a bandage, and then find something that can secure it in place, like for example a belt like you said.
FYI, a tourniquet is a last resort. You only use it when you cannot stop the severe bleeding by applying direct pressure and pressure on pressure points.
I should also mention that you should keep on talking to the person that you're trying to treat to keep him/her from panicking..
FYI, a tourniquet is a last resort. You only use it when you cannot stop the severe bleeding by applying direct pressure and pressure on pressure points.
Yeah I mean you'd be looking at amputation if you use a tourniquet.
What about shoe laces?
I should also mention that you should keep on talking to the person that you're trying to treat to keep him/her from panicking..
That is, if you're not panicking yourself.
I have expensive headphones, this will end up breaking them and not working anyway, I would use my belt, but my pants would fall down carrying the girl out, I would use my shirt but I'm slightly chubby and would be kind of embarrassed while carrying her out. Any other things I could use?
What about shoe laces?
They're really good for tying but it might take a while to undo the knots and to get them de-laced from your shoes..and especially since most of my classmates wear these. I know dick about treating wounds, but from what I've read, tourniquets should only be used if your leg or arm is blown off, i.e. where you want to stop the blood flow because it's otherwise going to be totally lost. In all other cases you should use your hands to apply pressure to the wound, thus the blood can still flow and you don't lose much blood, and that you should use your hands, and never a towel or something as they will just act like sponges and hasten your death.
What about elastic from jumpers and jackets and things.

Cheerleaders are too dumb to even be grateful anyway.
Diet
I don't really need to, just a bit self conscious, got to get over it, its stupid. Although I wouldn't want blood on my shirt.
Play Far Cry 2 in a half hour and you'll know everything necessary to know about treating wounds.. got shot? simple. Pick out the Bullet with your teeth
You pet it and feed it regularily.
Good to know
Headphones make terrible tourniquets. DO NOT USE A THIN MATERIAL, YOU'LL CAUSE MORE HARM THAN GOOD. [editline]05:03PM[/editline] You didn't mention any first aid tips. You didn't mention that you have to keep the wound elevated above the heart. Since you're only talking about tourniquets, let me inform you that it is crucial you record the time when the first tourniquet was applied. Infact, write it on the victims forehead (with ink, dirt, blood) with a big T and the time right next to it. Don't apply a tourniquet on a joint such as the elbow or the knee.
I wear all of that shit every day.

It's a last resort and may certainly mean that the limb would have to be amputated. Also, I don't think you should loosen the tourniquet until you're sure the bleeding can be managed.

All I know is that you should wrap a shirt around the wound and tie it, or use a belt to tie it. Bullets and knives should be left in (Bullets are 100% sterile from the heat of firing, knives cause more damage when pulled out)
Kill someone less important, use their flesh as a tourniquet.
Kill someone less important, use their flesh as a tourniquet.
Intestines have a good tinsel strength. Fatal stab wound: amputate the limb, cauterize the stump. Non-fatal stab wound: Maggots, cauterize. Oh wait, I thought this was the 1700's. Excuse me.
