The movie was pretty good, but does anyone else think the show was mediocre? Like I can't remember any of it but I could monologue like any of the old Spongebob episodes

I actually noticed that while it was still airing. I know I watched every episode but none of them stuck. I'm probably gunna do a re-watch soon because I've been watching a lot of old TV and it will be interesting how much of it I recall.

honestly that whole episode and the one where hugh(?) thinks hes alone in the world and eats pies are the only two episodes that stand out in my memory. idk why those two in particular.
The only quotable moments that come to my mind are:
Carl screaming "Can't you see that your constant fighting is tearing us apart?!"
and fucking "slap slap slap clap clap clap"
The end of the second video is priceless.

I seem to recall the series was pushed to be released and the animators repeatedly ran up against budget and time constraints. It was actually kinda sad.
I find the original animated shorts that lead to the eventual creation of a cartoon series are very interesting to watch in just how much they differ from the final product.
Take, for example, the original Billy & Mandy short.

I used to love watching it as a kid and just taking all the visuals in and shit, it was a lot of eye candy. But 10+ years later actually doing animation as a hobby, I can really tell the difference between when they actually decided to animate shit and other times when they just half assed it and everything looks staticy as fuck, like they move literally the bare minimum needed. Not to mention the fucking trees aren't trees, but just floating collections of green circles.

There's quite a few great moments, but yeah, many episodes are lackluster and the series overall is super medium. It does have it's merits and a decent share of some really funny episodes though.
