It's if you bought the game new. Pre-ordering doesn't matter, just don't buy the game used.

It's not that hard to understand. It's just saying if you bought the game, you get DLC. It makes pirating less appealing. You'll be sent the code when the game comes out.
That would be dumb as hell to have only pre-order people get certain multiplayer maps.

It's actually not so much a move to deter piracy but more of a move to discourage buying a used copy.

Since the Publisher and Developer don't get any money from used copies so Buying a used copy is as bad as pirating it from their perspective.

Well, the CD key is tied to the EA account, so I imagine that Gamestop or whoever wouldn't even bother buying the game from someone.

All the DLC for BC1 was free, so this will probably get the same treatment.
Maybe if they do some singleplayer DLC, they'll charge for that, but the multiplayer stuff will most likely be free.
i have already pre-ordered the game but this seems kinda silly.
they game isn't out yet so that content should be part of the game regardless of when you buy it. and why can't they release future maps and new content *for free*? companies used to do it all the time, and some still do.
honestly, if they'll release new content for free more people will buy the game. how difficult is that to comprehend?

i just think what they're doing is gimmicky and awful. it's not gonna discourage resales because people will just sell their accounts, which the DLC will be tied to.
pirating is gonna happen no matter what. MW2 is a living proof.
all i'm asking for is for companies to release a game without cutting out content and calling it "DLC" and then either charging for it or acting all nice a charitable by giving us "free" content which was supposed to be with the game itself.
Free Day 1 DLC is probably EA's best idea in a while.

EA is a great company and almost every game they've been a part of in any way has been a huge success. i don't know what's with people acting like EA is the hitler of gaming, they never have been and they certainly are not now.
