While this may not have anything directly to do with EA's Origin service, it is speculated that this is again related to EA violating Valve's Terms of Service for Steam. Namely, the part that deals with the availability of DLC and again, as mentioned, Dragon Age 2's Legacy DLC was indeed released today. A similar situation took place when Crysis 2 was pulled due to issues surrounding the DirectX 11 patch and DLC update.
Whether or not this has something to do specifically with how EA offers the DLC remains to be seen. They offer it specifically though an in-game store, which tends to bypass the Steam system entirely, a situation that violates Steam's ToS set forth by Valve. Simply put, it appears as though EA is trying to pull a fast one with their DLC releases and this provides an easy out in their contract with Valve.
Complete bullshit, updating games with DLCs that purposely violate Valve's contract just so EA can get their games on Origin, I don't understand why they don't just leave the games on there.

Great, I applaud EA for saving countless people from having to play this.
If the Mass Effect series is removed I have a couple words for EA.
What if Valve's ToS exactly? The article makes it sound like if Valve is trying to hold a monopoly and is only letting these people release their games through Steam. If that is the case, then it seems this is Valve's fault.

It has to do with how they support their games. Like I think it violates ToS if they release an update or DLC without also giving it/making it available to steam. It isn't valve being the asshole here.

I think someone mentioned awhile ago that ToS says you can't put your product on Steam and promote another service entirely. Or something to that effect, and I think that's why they said Crysis 2 was removed.

This was gone over in a few other threads. I forget exactly what went on but it's something along the lines of EA purposely and knowingly violating agreements and then trying to twist it so it seems like it's Valves fault or something. At least, that matches up with other stuff I have read and I honestly wouldn't put that past EA. Besides, Valve is, or was at least, A-okay with games being released through Direct2Drive and GFWL (when they actually got around to selling games that is) alongside a steam release.
You couldn't get DAO DLC from Steam, and that was ok.
Valve is being a bitch about it. Theres no reason why the DA2 DLC wouldn't work on the steam version even if it's not available in their own store.
You can't get any of the Mass Effect 1 or 2 DLC off Steam. Why is that still up there?
i think it had something to do with them trying make dlc only available to origin users

I will rage. I have ME2 on Origin, but I bought both on Steam specifically so I didn't have to deal with EA and Origin...

I blame her.
What I find the funniest about all of this is that people are trying to argue that BF3 on PC won't suffer any sales losses from not being on Steam.
I mean hello! Tons who are playing on PC probably won't even hear of it unless it ends up on Steam. Lots will just decide to wait for a Steam version, some will boycott it, others will forget about it.
You couldn't get DAO DLC from Steam, and that was ok.
Yes you can, well kinda if you but you would need to buy the game a 2nd time: http://store.steampowered.com/app/47810/
Buy Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition
Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition includes Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening and all nine content packs.
You can't get any of the Mass Effect 1 or 2 DLC off Steam. As for ME1 Bring Down the Sky was free for all PC users while Pinnacle Station is $5 on Origin while being odd might just be an oversight by Valve and besides it was horrible DLC and hardly worth the price.

I'm sure there are people who will do it but to me it's really stupid not to buy a great game just because you can't use a certain distributor.
And nothing of value was lost
But seriously, I doubt Activision is going to change any time soon.
I mean, they hate loosing any profit.

Uhhh...and if you didn't get the Ultimate pack?
Uhhh...and if you didn't get the Ultimate pack?
Ah right then I guess then you are kinda screwed into buying the game a 2nd time.
I also assume DA:O does not have a built in store like ME2, right?
Activision took EAs title of being the worst developer/publisher and now they're trying to take it back.

It does but even with ME2, you have to go the bioware store.
and I say, they're doing a damn fine job of it.

you asshole,breaking my automerge
I have been buying from Steam only (unless Steamworks) and plan to keep it that way.
What is all that bullshit down there?
If its an issue with the DLC policy, why doesn't EA just comply with them. I mean even Microsoft complied with them with Fable 3. In Fable 3 all they did to comply was change a link that opened the GFWL Overlay to open in the Steam overlay with a list DLCs available. Why is it so difficult for EA to do so?
What is all that bullshit down there?
The future of PC gaming if people tolerate Origin-only BS.
Now I'm worried about BF3.
It does but even with ME2, you have to go the bioware store.
Well that could be a loophole in the agreement because you are doing the transaction though the developer rather then the publisher.
This is a total shoot in the dark because no one but EA and Valve know what the contract says and unless it gets posted in full its hard to really pinpoint whats going on.

Which is why I haven't made a decision about this at all till we see a copy of it.

You have a bunch of DRM shit....not Online stores.
And? I've been spoiled by Steam and Steamworks. I'm not going back for one fps that will be hated on by every BC2 veteran, and then be dead in 2 years while Steamworks titles like TF2 and KF live on.
Wow, you really think people care? You didn't see the article that BF3 preorders were beating CoD preorders did you?
