Both the Ukrainian Army and rebels report being mortared in the same morning, both being "nearby" each other. Are they mortaring each other or is some sinister 3rd party trying to reignite tensions? Let the conspiracy theories begin!

At this point it wouldn't even matter if they had video footage of artillery and mortar fire being thrown at them, the separatists could simply say it's staged. Hell, they could just say "evidently someone else hates you even more" and laugh it off. Or just claim they were fired upon as well. In any case, video evidence and interviews are not going to sway opinions anymore unless it's somehow unequivocally indicative of either side's involvement. Both sides are already too entrenched in hating the other - they are likely going to adamantly keep supporting theirs and that's it. This entire fiasco is pointless.

SMM was under fire too. I guess being shot at is enough evidence that shelling is happening.
Also Kiev soldiers could do as you say as well, not just the rebels.
My theory is that two sides are shelling eachother, normal everyday business, then the OSCE group comes to one side.
Everyone is like "Oh god, hide the mortars. Alright, hello mr. Neutral observer, we are being shot at, but we didn't break the ceasefire!".
OSCE group leaves, goes to the other side. Meanwhile the site they left takes out the mortars and continues shelling.
And then everything repeats on the other side.
