The former Real Madrid and Inter Milan striker has ballooned in size since retiring last year but will appear in the "Medid Certa" section of the "Fantástico" television show to try and get back into shape. Ronaldo has already started filming with the programme's presenters and he will be followed for three months with the first episode being broadcast in Brazil this weekend. Ronaldo said he agreed to deal with his weight issue on television as the extra pressure would keep him motivated. "I'm enjoying participating in the program, because it is an incentive for me to lose weight," he told iG Gente. "Maybe if I didn't have the pressure of everybody watching me trying to lose weight then I wouldn't be able to do it. Marcio Atalla, who has been tasked with whipping Ronaldo into shape, said that former superstar's case would be an important lesson to viewers. "The idea of choosing Ronaldo came mainly because we wanted to show that people cannot stand still," he said. "You may have had a physically active job but if you stop and adopt a new lifestyle then your body will feel it and react to it.The exercises that keep you in shape need to be part of your routine forever." In the first episode of the show the presenters do a complete evaluation of Ronaldo through blood tests, body measurements, electrocardiography, an exercise test and measuring the percentage of fat and muscle in the body of the former star. "All I can say is that I will work hard, be persistent and not give up until I reach my recommended weight," said the three time FIFA World Footballer of the Year. "I want people to be inspired by me."
To be known as Fat Ronaldo must be humiliating. :( What a legend. He's hardly fat really..
I misread "Fit Club" as "Fight Club" I would totally watch that though
He's hardly fat really..
he's more than definitely overweight, but by some standards he's closer to average, but standards don't change whether it's healthy to be overweight or not
He's not that fat, still has a lot of muscle
Everyone always makes fun of him in Brazil. I feel kinda bad for the guy. I like him.
Well compared to what he was before, he let himself go, but I don't really blame him. His moment was over, time to relax
Pretty sure that he has some disease so if he stops working out he pretty much gets insta-fat.
snip
He's always been a bit chubby for a football player, honestly.
He definitely is chubby, but it's mostly in the face and stomach. He's not exactly worryingly obese like most on the show.
A disease called physics? My god what a REVELATION
Physics determine whether or not people get fat now?
Man... he makes everybody else look like useless fools in that video.
At least he's retired, he's allowed to let himself go Unlike Adriano
The Brazilian club Corinthians are keeping their striker Adriano "detained" inside the team's hotel in an effort to force him to lose weight. The club said Adriano, who has been fined several times for missing training, would be put on a strict diet inside the hotel at the team's headquarters, eating only what doctors give him and training three times a day.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/feb/08/corinthians-adriano-house-arrest-weight
Man... he makes everybody else look like useless fools in that video.
3:28 is the biggest what the fuck moment I've seen in football.
He looks really chubby.
3:28 is the biggest what the fuck moment I've seen in football.
Check out some of Lionel Messi's highlights... probably the best player around. I don't even like football, but this control is fascinating.
A disease called physics? My god what a REVELATION
No, hypothyroidism. And I think the medicine that helped him was considered doping to FIFA.
I don't even like football, but this control is fascinating.
Same, rarely watch games but some of these guys have some inspiring technique.
No, hypothyroidism. And I think the medicine that helped him was considered doping to FIFA.
I was referring to the fact that he might just have let himself go, didn't know about his disease, interesting
Physics determine whether or not people get fat now?
yes because on the moon i'm like, super light
The only Ronaldo in football for me.
Leo Messi is undoubtedly the best player of all time. Ronaldo was the best of his day and definitely has a great legacy though.
I can see all the muscle he still has on him. He's nowhere near as fat as people make him out to be; given a few months of diet control, his definition will be coming back like lightning.
Well that's gunna be pretty easy considering he's probably got really good muscle memory
This show is still running? -pun not intended
he looks like he's bulking literally the easiest type of body to do a cut on, give him some clen and he's good to go
No, hypothyroidism. And I think the medicine that helped him was considered doping to FIFA.
hth hypothyroidism does NOT make people fat in and of itself. It creates an environment that's hardly ideal for staying lean, but it does not make people fat. Mass doesn't appear magically, he would still need to be eating more than it takes to maintain his current state to get fatter. There are rake thin people with hypothyroidism too. As an aside, i don't think he had it for most of his career. I very much doubt anyone could compete at an elite level of athletics with low thyroid
back in highschool i knew this br who was super obnoxious and hue'd frequently. He also fucking loved Ronaldo. He's what I use as a baseline for all br's.

Whenever I go back to Brazil, it pains me to have to play on Brazilian game servers. However, Brazilians are pretty awesome people in real life. I guess you just got given a shitty one.
