I remember watching this movie so long ago, when I was young. Something made me think of it recently so I went on the hunt to find it, and I thought I'd share it with you guys.
It is an animated movie of dinosaurs who have been fed "brain gain" which makes them smart, civilized, pacifists. They they are shown a machine that shows them the wishes of the kids of earth. They are sent to New York to make kids' wishes come true. After 2 kids get in some trouble with the local evil circus (aka signing a devil contract with their blood) they are turned to monkeys or something and they learn peace or something, I forget the rest.
With Steven Spielberg as the executive producer, and vocal talents of people such as John Goodman and Jay Leno how can you go wrong.
imdb's summary, pretty hilarious:
Captain New Eyes travels back in time in what is presumably the Late Cretaceous Period. He feeds the four prehistoric dinosaurs with the names of Rex, Elsa, Dweeb, and Woog his Brain Grain cereal, which makes them intelligent, non-violent and gentle creatures. They travel via space ship to the 21st century where they befriends with a street-smart boy and a poor-little-rich girl tough-talking but secretly soft-hearted Louie and a neglected cutie named Cecilia, from the opposite sides of the tracks, get rooked into performing in a demented circus run by the scientist's evil brother Professor ScrewEyes, and learns something about friendship. He has other plans for those dinosaurs. In addition, his demeanor of tapping into people's nightmares and a hypnotic stare render him a menace to be feared. ScrewEyes may be a bizarre baddie, but he works all the same.
So lets discuss this now. Perhaps this was part of someone else's childhood?
I loved this movie. Although it scared me with they became "real" dinos again.
Also the end was scary when [sp]the crows ate him[/sp]

Oh god nostalgia.
OH MY GOD. I used to have this movie. It was so great. I got real sad (as well as freaked out) when the [sp] dinosaurs got turned into the realistic primal versions of themselves [/sp] but thank god for a happy ending.
Rated heart for nostalgia.

They don't make child movies they way they used to. These had magic and heart in them.
I shed a childhood tear.

SO much Nostalgia. And a great childhood film. Better than a bunch of shit I see nowadays, save Pixar animations.
Also, I own this on VHS, purely for sentimental reasons.
Holy fuck, I haven't seen this movie in years...
I remember watching this when I was very young. I loved it.
Then a few years ago, I remembered the movie, but not the title. I was trying to get my parents to help me remember but whenever I'd describe the movie to them they would always talk like they'd never heard of it.
I remember this, and seeing the Nostalgia Critics Review in which he also parodies Hunter S. Thompson.
I remember this.
I also remember never watching it again.
this was the second best dinosaur movie I ever saw as a child. the first being Jurassic Park, obviously.
still, though... I don't remember being scared of the carnival part and the bad guy [sp]being eaten.[/sp] maybe I blocked that memory or something?
Wow, they don't make movies like they used to. The animation in this is simply outstanding.
Movie was beyond creepy for me as a kid.
I loved this movie. I think I still have it on a video cassette somewhere.
That bird said heck!
That little girl is cute. She reminds me of a younger more polite girl that I like now. haha

It's the same voice actress that voices lisa in the simpsons, I can't remember her god damn name though.
