The Crusader Kings II developer announced today that it has acquired White Wolf Publishing from Eve Online company CCP Games. This brings the White Wolf name, along with its World of Darkness properties, under the control of Paradox. Tobias Sjögren, former executive vice president of business development at Paradox, will take over as the chief executive officer of White Wolf. He will run the new subsidiary as an independent business.

Amazing news.
please let world of darkness be a thing again
now get the troika folks back together to make new games please
Here's hoping Bloodlines gets updated to proper Source instead of whatever obsolete version it's running.
Heck yes More Vampire stuff please.
Granted I only played The Masquerade (patched) and it was fantastic, more stuff like that please.
YES! YES! fucking incredible, can't wait for anything related to the WoD universe
So hype, I was bummed when the MMO was cancelled
Im ready for a dust port to pc.
I'd say this is more important news for the tabletop games than it does the video games, don't get me wrong im sure we'll get a game or two from this on the PC but that ain't really White Wolf's focus

Now its whatever Paradox wants.
New Vampire: The Masquerade type of game please!

Not sure if licensing Source 1 is still possible through Valve, and I can't say I have too much hope in Source 2 of being too much different. But I do really hope they can grant permission to us to restart the remake project and work on it properly while in the meantime Obsidian to work on a new game.
I loved the setting in VTMB, can't wait for new things

Which was requiem, which quite a few people hate.
A Crusader Kings-like game with vampirism elements would be mad rad yo. You could just keep living forever!

If you begged really hard probably, but general licensing is dead. Source 2 looks interesting so far, but in it's current public form it's unusable for most games (unless you have a dedicated team of graphics programmers).
It's refreshing to see IP's not being hoarded for once as well.
Interesting. I've faith in Paradox Interactive.

I've seen some optimistic posts but this is pretty high up there on the ladder.
Bloodline could use an upgrade since the current version runs like shit on modern PCs.

Just as many hate oWoD though. A lot of peoples introduction to the World of Darkness was the Bloodlines game and, while it's no longer White Wolf's primary focus, it is still supported. Their current effort is a more streamlined and hands-off gameline that doesn't have an attached metaplot that invariably intrudes in your game. Up to you.
VTMB was fucking cool, but its unlikely anything of that quality comes out of this. It will be a different developer, different staff and most crucially, given Brian Mitsoda's (the lead writer on VTMB) recent disastrous foray into videogame development (dead state) I doubt he will be involved.

Mitsoda's working on torment in inXile, I wouldn't be suprised if they got him to work on a new vtm game
For those who are wondering if Paradox will release Vampire the Masquerade series on GOG. Here's the good news.

have they mentioned about patches or engine upgrades, it would be amazing if they would be porting the engine to a far later version of source

And break everything a la HL2 Orangebox update?

I doubt anyone would be touching Source. And ultimately, it'd take them more time porting the old code if they have access to it to a newer Source engine than recreating it in another one.
There were some talks between GOG and the author behind the Unofficial Patch about a potential GOG version of the game, which includes the engine memory and resolution fixes, probably a liter version of the Unofficial Patch too. Last I heard, they were talking to Activision and now waiting for to get back to them.

That would be the day, however it's all up to Paradox if they will allow such ports like Project Vaulderie was to become what Deus Ex: Revision is in this regard.

Never seen worse engine maintaining and update breaks anywhere else. SDKs breaking at most upgrades, engine stops working with mods, late updates, etc.
There's no reason to port it over, the game works fine with the unofficial patch.
I'd rather see a new release in the universe than a remake.
Yeah honestly they should just make the unofficial patch official if they plan on releasing it on GoG and be done with it.

The older engine greatly restricts modding.
