After getting laid off, I turned to my benzos I had left over from a previous prescription to keep me from feeling these intense bouts of anger. It worked well in a 1mg dose. I didn't feel angry anymore for the rest of the day. It was awesome. I kept this up for about a week and a half. Today I thought to myself that I shouldn't need to take it anymore so I didn't take it when I woke up. As I continued through the day, I began to feel shitty. I felt nauseated, tired as fuck, headaches, and very irritable, and a few other symptoms. None of these feelings, however, were linked to me being laid off.
A while back, when I was first prescribed benzos, I did research on them, and one of the things I looked up were withdrawal symptoms. A lot of what I have been feeling matched up, besides one. I seem to have become dependent on them faster than other cases that I have read about.
About 40 minutes ago, I took .5 mg but it didn't do much, so now I've taken another .5 to see if that helps. So far it hasn't revealed any of the symptoms making me a little concerned that it could be something else.
Anyone have any advice? I'm feeling pretty sick.
you're probably just a lightweight to withdrawal or something else is going on
or it could be that you're mentally dependent upon them really bad.

Well I don't think it's a mental dependence because I don't want to take them. I don't feel the constant urge to take them just because. I feel the urge to take them to alleviate the negative symptoms I'm feeling.
That could still be mental dependence. doesn't necessarily mean the mental dependence is toward the drug, just towards self medication.
but you don't know what's causing the problem exactly so i dunno
I guess I should talk to my doc about it.
Shit sucks. Just when I thought shit was bad, it's seems like it's about to get a lot worse.
If they're prescribed yeah talk to your doctor.
Else wait it out, it can be hard and you may want to use some other drugs to smooth the path but just think if this is what it does to you now then imagine what it can do if you stay on it.
Just ease yourself off. Lower your dosage, and most of all lower the frequency. The same thing happened to me recently. The next couple of days aren't going to be that fun, but you'll get through it.
benzo (im assuming benzobarbitol) is pretty addictive physically, its gonna take willpower to get over it.

Guessing from the dosage, I am guessing lorazepam.
Just a week? It probably isn't withdrawals.
My buddy took Lorazepam almost daily for 8 weeks or so. Now those were some fucking withdrawals. After a week, it shouldn't be anything you can't handle.
It likely is withdrawal, just nothing that extreme. I took 1mg or more a day for about two weeks and ended up getting withdrawal. It really wasn't that bad, I just found it to be really annoying. It calmed down after about three or five days of managing myself well.
The main concern the OP seemed to have was that taking his usual dose didn't relieve the effects of withdrawal, and if I remember correctly it didn't really with me either.
What are you taking?
Anyway, it could be withdrawal but after a week you're unlikely to be experiencing anything serious. You need to be taking benzos for at least a month to be getting more serious withdrawal symptoms.

benzobarbital is a barbiturate.

Woops, my mistake.
So hes taking -azepams.
not even.
prefixes and shit like that don't necessarily denote a drug's family.
deal with it for a day, you'll feel better when you wake up the next morning
yeah op give us an update, how are you doing?
Pepin is spot on. The benzo I'm taking is Lorazepam (Xanax). It isn't too hard to figure that out though because of the dose. I think I've tried klonopin too and liked that, but never got any more. Valium (pill) makes me feel sick and gives me a headache even in small micro doses which is weird because I got a shot of that in the ER about a year ago because I came in with a MASSIVE anxiety attack and they pretty much shot me up right then and there and it felt fucking awesome, haha.
Anyway, I took .5mg the first thing in the morning yesterday and it kept me from feeling shitty the entire day. The difference is I had the constant urge to take another .5mg in the late afternoon around 7pm and later, which I did not do.
Not taking any more allowed my anxiety to flair up a bit in the form of mild chest pains which have lasted over night and even right now (which is normal for my anxiety. If it was actually due to ischemia to the heart [angina pectoris], I would have been in severe pain before and dead right now.)
I'm going to take another .5mg today (take it as late in the day as I can stand it) and see how it goes. Unfortunately I can't afford to go through any more withdrawal symptoms today since I have firestation duty so if it gets bad later today around 4 or 5, I might have to up the dose so I can function.
What I did not mention is I am also on an antibiotic, which apparently severely increases the withdrawal effects from benzos.
fuck i wish barbs were more available, I could go for a downers breakfast
haha you just missed it. the 70s and 80s, possibly 90s had an influx of barbituates on the "black market" because they became really inferior drugs from the release of benzodiazapines, so the giant fucking warehouses full of them were either illegally sold or shipped off to a third world country where they would probably be illegally sold too.

i told you it was something else
why the fuck does the dude guy keep rating me dumb
So I stopped my antibiotics, and guess what else stopped too? The withdrawal effects. Fuck yeah. Now that I'm off the benzos I can start the antibiotics again.
