[release]ANKENY, Iowa – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul made two concrete gestures affirming his career-long stance on the sanctity of life. Dr. Paul signed the Personhood Republican Presidential Candidate Pledge circulated by Personhood USA, a 501(c)(4) Christian ministry that assists local groups in initiating citizen, legislative, and political action in defense of the unborn. Dr. Paul also authored his own statement outlining his prolife position in the context of the Constitution. The 12-term Congressman from Texas signed both documents on December 19, 2011. “I guarantee you that no one would work harder to be the most ardent and active pro-life President in history,” Dr. Paul writes in his statement. “We’re pleased Ron Paul has signed the Personhood USA pledge and admire him for elaborating further on the issue of government’s role in protecting the sanctity of life. The right to life is a deeply-held conviction of Dr. Paul. As a political leader, a Christian, and a physician who personally delivered thousands of babies, he brings unique perspective on the life issue that’s so pivotal for Iowans,” said Ron Paul 2012 Iowa Chair Drew Ivers. Dr. Paul is by trade an accomplished OB-GYN who personally delivered more than 4,000 babies. While in Congress he sponsored a federal Human Life Amendment, and voted against directing federal funds toward domestic and international organizations that perform abortions or engage in so-called “family planning” schemes. aw man
well this is kind of obvious the only upside of leaving everything to the states is that it's possible for some states to legalize abortion but then again the elephant in the room is Ron Paul somehow convincing congress to vote to reduce their powers
And this is the man so many of you guys want in office.
And this is the man so many of you guys want in office.
It's okay if he screws over the gays and the womens and minorities, as long as it's not us

Every time I see the Republican candidates I yearn to leave the country If one of those jackoffs wins the election I'm probably going to move to Canada
oh boy here comes reagan 2.0.
And this is the man so many of you guys want in office.
the cult of ron paul gonna end the wars and make weed legal 420 ron paul r3volution
He's still trying to appeal to primary voters people. His best shot is Iowa and nothing gives those people bigger boners than pro-life stuff. Is it really that bad that people want to see him beat the other pricks in the primaries? So he can debate Obama, and Obama will finally be questioned on some of the shit he's gotten, or going to get away with?
the cult of ron paul gonna end the wars and make weed legal 420 ron paul r3volution
If any of the Republican candidates get into the Presidency, they probably won't act upon their platforms and will do things only slightly different than Obama's administration.
Strange I thought he hated government control. I guess he loves it when it agrees with him.
He's still trying to appeal to primary voters people. is it even possible to have an intelligent argument for being against abortion please, if you're going to rate this post dumb, justify it with a valid opinion in written form. i have had no such contest to this statement thus far
is it even possible to have an intelligent argument for being against abortion
I'd say it mainly depends on the person making the argument. For instance, people tend to say "It's a baby that has a right to live!", then turn around and say "This dude did X to my Y! He doesn't deserve to live!" I'd be totally willing to listen if people didn't contradict themselves so easily.
Strange I thought he hated government control. I guess he loves it when it agrees with him. That doesn't make it all right.
I'm pretty sure this is mostly a publicity stunt to appeal to the ultra-republican "market" who votes entirely based on social issues instead of more important matters But eh, who knows. Maybe this will be a president that actually fufils every election promise ever even on the social issues which are traditionally ignored during office, in which case we get a stupid federal law put into place removing the rights women have to get an abortion.
It's okay if he screws over the gays and the womens and minorities, as long as it's not us
Ron Paul in a nutshell, with the addition of "He's not as bad as the other guys!" thrown in.
And this is the man so many of you guys want in office.
I don't want him anywhere near the Oval Office. He's just as bad as the others he just knows how to mask his bullshit behind clever imagery.
I don't want him anywhere near the Oval Office. He's just as bad as the others he just knows how to mask his bullshit behind clever imagery.
I believe he was referencing the near-zealous support for Ron Paul on the internet.
And this is the man so many of you guys want in office.
Sorry but I would rather have a president who's pro-life and protective of our existing rights than a president who's for abortion but is willing to sign our basic rights away. No candidate here is even close to perfect and you have to pick one based on what's more important.

Facepunch's dream candidate would do terrible in America. Maybe not not in the smaller European countries, but in America they would nose dive. The people who would base their votes on abortion rights are usually prolife. Many prochoicers aren't so adamant in their beliefs that they would decide to not vote someone based on that fact. It's in his best interest to make statements like that. I'm not defending his stance, I'm just trying to clear things up.
Sorry but I would rather have a president who's pro-life and protective of our existing rights than a president who's for abortion but is willing to sign our basic rights away. Out of the hundreds of people actually running for president (not just the mainstream ones) I bet you anything you could actually find one who agrees with what you believe.
abortion is an existing right congress is getting rid of our rights, obama is just allowing it to happen you talk about Ron Pauls policies as though anyone in congress will give a flying fuck hell if he even wins the presidency I will eat my words and post a thread about how I'm wrong also way to play into the usual 'well I'm not a woman so I don't care' crowd
How did he play into the "well I'm not a woman so I don't care crowd" ?
How did he play into the "well I'm not a woman so I don't care crowd" ?
By pretending the issue of abortion is not a serious enough right to consider someone politically able.
well this is kind of obvious the only upside of leaving everything to the states is that it's possible for some states to legalize abortion
Or gay marriage, or drug legalization, or pretty much anything progressive for that matter
How did he play into the "well I'm not a woman so I don't care crowd" ?
He doesn't view abortion as a right, and doesn't seem to care about it. Even though what Obama is doing will affect orders of magnitude less people than anti-abortion legislation would. honestly are you blind or just stupid?
I believe he was referencing the near-zealous support for Ron Paul on the internet.
Yes, I know. And am I not on the internet?
Or gay marriage, or drug legalization, or pretty much anything progressive for that matter
but then you've still got the roll of the states dice as to whether they'll ban homosexuality or drugs, it's just that FEDERAL enforcement of these things stop happening If you got rid of the DEA tonight, you'd create 51 mini-DEAs out of state law enforcement agencies
abortion is an existing right congress is getting rid of our rights, obama is just allowing it to happen you talk about Ron Pauls policies as though anyone in congress will give a flying fuck hell if he even wins the presidency I will eat my words and post a thread about how I'm wrong also way to play into the usual 'well I'm not a woman so I don't care' crowd
Abortion is not an existing right in the US. Nowhere in the constitution does it mention it. However it probably should become one. And I never said I don't care about abortion. One thing just takes priority over the other in this situation.
