The Senate voted 21 to 13 to repeal the law that voters passed as a ballot initiative in 2016, the Portland Press Herald reported. The law has been a source of controversy since it was passed with the Maine Supreme Court ruling an advisory opinion earlier this year that the measure violated the state’s constitution. The advisory, however, was limited to the gubernatorial and legislative races in the general election.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/jun/27/maine-senate-approves-repeal-of-ranked-choice-voti/ RIP [possibly only] voting-reform attempt for Maine. [Maybe for while?]
I wonder why the people who have everything to lose from a proper voting mechanism would vote against that voting mechanism...

And these people operate on a level disconnected from American society, the system is now being used for the benefit of themselves and the wealthy. And we can't change it because see the first sentence.

Whether they're President, Mayor, Senator, Congressman, Governor, in state congress or senate, etc. They should have to truly work to keep their seat via working for those who they're supposed to govern.
I and the majority of Maine voted for voting reform and it PASSED. And the ones in charge can just kill it before it even lives. Talk about spitting in our faces.

When it's your voting power they're taking away, anything else can wait.
Wait, so the voters voted directly in favor of this, but then the people who are supposed to represent them said no? Why are they allowed to directly defy the will of their constituents?
