"This is the third of UK homes that are not economically attractive to firms such as BT and Virgin Media because offering next-generation services there would cost too much money."
This annoys me, everyone should have a reliable and fast internet connection regardless of where they live.
Here in America, our leaders have just begun promising such things :smith:
This better include Northern Ireland. :argh:
The broadband is horrible here.
Its annoying when I get awful broadband speed but my town gets Fibre Optic at the end of this year :D.
Except it isn't good as for some god forsaken reason I am in the one estate in the entire town which isn't ever getting it.
I can get 24mbit in my area but I'm like 2 miles from the nearest exchange so I only get 4mbit :colbert:
I can get 10Mbit and i'm like, 10 metres away from the exchange. I get 1.2MBps :geno:
I get 12mb, but I could 32 up 7 down if my fucking idiot dad would get BT Infinity,

Uh, that's the point of this
Internet in the UK is generally awful.
The ISP's can't work together and get Fibre Optics everywhere and at a reasonable price.
Hopefully they finally get this done.

I beg to differ.
I get shit speeds here in London.
I just got 50Mbit/s last week, it's very good. I'll be getting 100Mbit when it becomes avaliable.
^ I'm in London :smug:
Waiting for the Swedish users to come on here and sneer at us from their fancy gigabit lines
I'm just waiting for BT to update this exchange to ADSL2+. We pay for 24Mb but only get 6.5Mb.

I'm a mile away and I get a 3rd of my advertised 24mbit.
Wasn't it going to become illegal for ISP's to advertise an "upto" speed and be forced to advertise an average speed?

I'm in the same situation.
But that's because I live in a grandparents ghetto.
They've just finished putting it into the ground two blocks away where most people who live there are young families.

So you get 9.6 Mbps? Hardly far off.
You fuckers have never lived in cumbria.

That's one of the best services you can get up here :smith:

UP TO. And if you're only getting 6.5Mb on an 8Mb line chances are things won't get much better. Attenuation is not your friend.
