Alright guys. Theist or atheist, doesn't matter. I wanna know your opinion. What awaits us when we die? do you have any ideas? I just can't think what it is. Maybe a completely, eternal, lucid dream. but i doubt it. What do you think? Heaven/Hell? Anything? Oblivion? Post it.
I wanna know your opinion. What awaits us when we die?
A coffin in the ground.
I have no idea, though for posing this question on FP you are sure to get tons of boxes. Personally, I don't think it matters. Afterlife or not, we should live or lives as if there is nothing else afterwards so that we can be satisfied with our lives and regret as little as possible.
you know how you don't remember your dreams when you sleep so it's pretty much like you were completely unconscious? i think it's like that times a 100.
Probably a coffin and a few maggots in the brain. Maybe a lake of hellfire. You've always gotta have a backup plan. For instance: in the event that Heaven Hell and God exist, you'll either be let in even if you were a dick, or you can point out that God's a religious extremist. And at that point, he'll either let you in or you can be sent to Hell knowing the person who sent you there is both a dick and not worth the worship. Well, that's the contingency, anyway.
6 feet of dirt and decay.
A nice, long, sleep. In fact, it'll last for eternity. So it's a pretty good time to rest.
I dont think its something like sleep, because in a sleep you still have a distant feeling of yourself. Its more like forgetting what life and personality is. You know that feeling when you just go walking on a street for miles and after some time notice that you have no idea where you are and what you were thinking. Death is something similiar, not sleep but forgetting and staying in that "state of forgot". Its like a split of a second that never finished
I don't believe it's like sleep, because the dreams and feelings induced when sleeping are caused by the brain. When you die, your brain dies too. I honestly have to say I don't know. In fact, it's not something I need to worry about right now because I am alive.
You simply Cease to be. The moment the electrical activity in the brain stops, all your memories, your personality, everything that makes you you, Is gone.

How can you guys say what it's like? Have you died? OP, there is no answer imo. No one alive has been dead, so you can't ask any one. But, I do agree, it probably will feel like nothing, which is completely incomprehensible to humans.
Sometimes I think that I am the reincarnation of thousands and thousands of people before me, but I just don't remember my previous life Thinking about that creeps me out
Anything you want.

He didn't have much memory of it, like a long dreamless sleep. So, I reckon it's basically like that. A dreamless sleep with no wake. Then I learnt I was supposedly a Nazi submarine captain and felt a little horrified.

You are comparing being dead forever to being clinically dead (I think that's what you call it). They really can't be compared. Anyways, you aren't really disagreeing with me I suppose.

You die, nothing happens. end.

we die we decay we are eaten we are nonexistent for the rest of time

I freaken hope it's something better than what you were before you were born.
I believe personally that we go to heaven. But I have wondered what if we just live another life after we die, having no memory of our past lives. What if we had lived before the life we're living now? Trippy.

For me sleep is, plop down on the bed, close your eyes, then it's morning.
I believe that all of you thoughts, your emotions, the being you were is born into a new person. And then changed the fuck around.
I like to imagine that upon dying I'll end up waking up as a baby in a womb and going through life again. The thought of just complete nothingness for an eternity is terrifying to me.

Our abstract mind divides itself, and the parts of that also divides itself. It continues to divide until there's nothing to divide [SUB]inb4 divide by zero[/SUB]
It'd be cool if I can have my own little universe where I can fuck around. If you've ever seen the movie "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams, that's kind of what I'm hoping for. But this is all just wishful thinking. Being agnostic, we'll just see what comes.
