Hopefully now nobody will be under the impression that it's just another joypad.
it actually looks pretty nifty
It looks like it has great precision
The only problem I can see is that with a mouse I can move the cursor from one side of the screen to the other in one movement without having to to lift it up but with this I would need to swipe across a couple of times with my thumb.

Swiping with the thumb is also probably faster.
I giggled a little bit when they brought out Papers, Please.

There will have to be a compromise somewhere, but from the video it looks like it will work great for quite a lot of titles.
That looks crazy, its more like watching someone using a keyboard and mouse than a typical gamepad.
I can totally see myself using this for singleplayer FPS and slower paced strategy games.
Maybe it will work the way you wnat with higher sensetivity? Swiping with the thumb is also probably faster.
Yeah but then you are sacrificing the accuracy. If it comes to it i'm sure it will be possible to change it to be velocity based like a regular analogue stick.

If there's a game that just doesn't work the default way, you could probably finetune it for that title.

I've always thought that keyboard and mouse were unrivaled in the fps genre for their sheer precision and control, this might actually be just as excellent but with a bit more couch comfort. I'd really like to try one out.
This looks like it would be really great for flight simulator/driving games; even on an xbox controller the steering/acceleration/braking leaves a lot to be desired.
Definitely changed my mind on how the controller looked before, thought it was gunna be a barely functioning gimmick. Its looking better than any controller I have seen or used in the past.
Seriously, why do so many people give a shit about how it looks? It's a controller, it's suppose to play & feel good. Not look good.
It's fine for that but it wouldn't work in an FPS where you need one of the pads for movement.
Perhaps you might be able to do what L4D does, and bind a button to a "quick-turn" command. Or a switch from lower sensitivity for precision and higher sensitivity for sweeping movements.
It's fine for that but it wouldn't work in an FPS where you need one of the pads for movement.
Yeah, I don't think you can match a keyboard/mouse for those kind of games; then again, I think it'll manage much better than console controllers for FPS. It certainly wouldn't be the best controller possible for something like ARMA unless you had a keyboard handy at the same time too.

I'd love to try one out myself. What I'm mainly worried about is the feel of the triggers, I absolutely loathe the triggers on the 360 controller, and I don't find the PS3 ones much better. If the price is alright, I may pick one up. 60$ would be perfect, 70$ if I stretch it a little, but anything over that and I'll just overlook it.
Left trackpad seems okay for movement in first person games like Portal or CS:GO, but the right trackpad is a definite no for me. It just looks like a laptop trackpad with lower sensitivity on a controller. It looks indeed more precise than a standard PS3/XBox controller, but not nearly as precise as keyboard/mouse. (And in my opinion doesn't look really comfortable)

So, if you move slow the cursor will move really slow, and if you move fast the cursor will move really fast. this allows for both precision and the ability to move across the entire screen in one swipe.

I imagine they can cut quite a bit of costs by making a wired version available too. Wireless controllers are terribad and are basically just a compromise to fit things in that won't drain the batteries in 5 minutes flat.

...Well now I want one just as a gamepad for my PC.
It's not even done yet, the 4 ugly buttons in the middle are supposed to be a big trackpad.
There's actually going to be a touchscreen where the buttons are so that the controller can be a bit more context sensitive.
It's completely customizable as to which mode it uses, soooo
Maybe it's just me, but i fail to see how else should this work as a mouse replacement in games other than like a laptop trackpad.
can you click in the trackpads like regular analogue sticks? if you cant i dont understand why there would be less physical buttons, even with the touch screen it would be better to have more physical buttons or at least the same amount as a regular gamepad like a 360/ps3 controller. I was under the impression that the touch screen would be used to give the player even MORE things to be able to press without having to have a million buttons, but it looks like there are less physical buttons so the touch screen will just make up for it. anyone know if this is wrong?
