Fans of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings films should start clearing their June calenders. TheOneRing.net has revealed that, not only will the trilogy be making a return to the big screen at AMC Theaters over a three week period, all three films will be arriving in the Extended Edition versions previously available only on DVD*.
The Fellowship of the Ring will screen on Tuesday, June 14th with The Two Towers following one week later on June 21st and The Return of the King concluding the series on June 28th.
Each film will screen for one night only and, while it hasn't been confirmed as of yet, ComingSoon.net is hearing that AMC will offer the digital versions of each with a ticket price of $12.50 a show.
*The extended versions of The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers were both screened nationwide as part of the promotion for Return of the King, but this will be the first time the final film's longer version sees a major theatrical release.
Holy shit awesome.
I'll probably see The Two Towers for sure. My favorite of the 3.
I just hope it's not 3D.
I know some of my friends will love this
Time to get my nerd on.
Amazing. Hopefully they're as fun to see the second time around.
They better do something like this in the UK.

Shh, you'll give them ideas!
Oh I am so doing this.
I really should watch these, haven't see. Them since they were in theaters last time
Move along Avatar, the true king has returned.

no, I don't think Black Dynamite is coming back to theatres as far as I know.
Awesome. Coincidentally I just watched The Fellowship of the Ring last night. I'll definitely watch all 3 to make up for not watching them originally in theaters.
Nerdgasm to the extreme.

time to drag my girlfriend to all of these
Bullshit, I just finished watching the trilogy at home. I would of liked to watch it on a huge screen.
Edit: Actually no, there would be to many cosplayers and people talking while getting bored of it because of it's length.
Haha, it's so nostalgic to remember how I had some LOTR VHS tapes, and I think one of the movies was divided in 2 parts, and we had to quickly change the tapes
Good. Now I can go and watch them properly since I'm a lot older. :buddy:
I never heard of this, and I work at an AMC. Must be because I'm a damn Canadian :(
And so returns the chaos of LOTR cosplayers fighting in the lobby.
time 2 dress up as gimli

I've got The Fellowship Of The Ring collector's edition sitting on my desk right now and it has 4 DVDs, 2 of which are each half of the movie.
Holy shit if my theater does this I know what I'm doing
It's starting to behave like Star Wars.
I watched all three extended editions back to back at the imax last year.

What, no love for the Blu-ray version?
It's to promote the coming blu-ray extended version.
Shit yeah! Been waiting to see myself again on the big screen!
