Okay, because I feel like posting something, I thought I'd post something helpful. So here is what I know about nitro internal combustion engines for RC cars.
So firstly, the engine sizes are pretty much understandable, the bigger then engine, the more power there is. There are 2 main ways in which engine sizes are measured, Cubic Inches and Cubic Centimeters.
Most major companies use Cubic Centimeters to measure their engines because 3.5 sounds bigger than .28, but it's not. For comparison, take a HPI Savage 3.5 and a Thunder Tiger MTA 4 S28. The Savage has a bigger number, but a smaller engine, why? Because HPI used Cubic Centimeters and TT (Thunder Tiger) used Cubic Inches. Actually the Savage has a .21 Cubic Inch engine (or the MTA4 has a 4.8 Cubic Centimeter engine)
A measurement chart for all you stupid motherfuckers:
.12ci - 2.0cc
.15ci - 2.5cc
.18ci - 3.0cc
.21ci - 3.5cc
.25ci - 4.1cc
.27ci - 4.4cc
.32ci - 5.2cc
.36ci - 5.9cc
.46ci - 7.5cc
Horsepower is a standard unit for measuring the power of an engine. A .21 Cubic Inch engine can typically produce between 2 and 2.5 HP at around 30,000 to 34,000 RPM. Some manufacturers might emphasize the horsepower of their engine. You'll have to refer to the individual specs to determine the actual displacement of a specific horsepower engine.
The engines are usually in 2 categories, small block and big block (just like a real engine) Big Blocks are usually .21 Cubic Inches and up and small blocks are .18 Cubic inches and down. Small block is mostly for 1/10 on road touring cars, while Big Blocks are for 1/8 monster trucks (like the Savage and TT MTA4)
Then there is the fuel, the fuel goes from 5% to 60% the most used are between 16% to 30% the fuel is made up of nitro methane and castor and/or synthetic oil, the higher percentage fuels are usually for racing and for speed breaking. Lower percentage fuels are for bashing and just driving around.
Glow plugs are what heats the fuel up so it burns, you need to have a lot of glow plugs around because it is easy to fuck shit up and if you are unlucky you can go trough a lot in a day
i'll post more when i can be bothered, bye :v:

thanks for that very useful information.
My brother had a nitro rc car once, then he drove it up a jump and it broke.
he cried.
I have 3 nitro rc cars
It's awesome

That's why I stopped playing that fucking game.
Edit: On second thought, it was probably that along with fucking everything else.
I have something to talk about at the dinner table tonight.
Thank you.

I'll also explain the chart to the stupid motherfuckers in my family.
Why did you need to call us "stupid motherfuckers"? It doesn't make you look cool, sorry.
No I really am a stupid motherfucker.
I thought only rocket scientists could convert from cubic inches to cubic centimeters......
Just use cubic centimeters all the time, don't need to do convertion bullshit to an unit only one place in the world happens to still use.
