Speaking aboard the aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford in Newport News, Va., Trump told reporters that he was not aware of Sessions’s contact with the Russian ambassador. He also said that Sessions “probably” testified truthfully during his confirmation hearing last month before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Asked whether Sessions should recuse himself, Trump added: “I don’t think so.” Several top Republican lawmakers have said that Sessions should recuse himself from ongoing investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 election, including potential contacts between Trump campaign officials and associates and Russian officials.
Trump also has a very limited vocabulary, an exceptionally poor memory, and no concept of irony.
And is a fascist. Trump saying he has total confidence in you is an insult.
Didn't Trump say this about Flynn shortly before the latter stepped down?
He also has total confidence that he'll find a budget to build his fucking wall.
Presumably the third ballast to be cut free will have Trump's "absolute certainty" while the fourth dead weight to be dropped will be Trump's "steady hand", and so on and so forth until the White House thesaurus has been completely used up.

"Total Confidence" from Trump has become such a major red flag
Woohoo! Goodbye Sessions!
your going to be dissapointed, recuse does non mean he's going to go out, he just cannot be at the investigation of Russia, If it every comes to that. [editline]2nd March 2017[/editline]
Woohoo! Goodbye Sessions!
Nope, he cannot judge the russian investigation, he is going to still going to be AG if he's recused himself.
your going to be dissapointed, recuse does non mean he's going to go out, he just cannot be at the investigation of Russia, If it every comes to that.
I know what recuse means. It also says something about the future of his career when the attorney general of the USA is considered too corrupt to be trusted.
I know what recuse means. It also says something about the future of his career when the attorney general of the USA is considered too corrupt to be trusted.
The GOP still wants to save face, so they'll likely remove Sessions and pretend that everything is fine.
Holy shit I'm laughing to myself because I'm in disbelief that we're going through this again!
Nope, he cannot judge the russian investigation, he is going to still going to be AG if he's recused himself.
I was making a joke about Trump saying he has "total confidence." It's a death sentence if Flynn is anything to go by.
welp he jinxed sessions now, rip
He recused himself.
Unfortunately I don't see Sessions resigning anytime soon. For one thing, National Security Advisor and Attorney General are two very different positions. I can only assume it would be considerably harder to remove an AG, especially one as loyal as Sessions. Plus, Sessions is Trump's first line of defense against a bipartisan investigation. Even now that Sessions has recused himself, he still wields considerable power to obstruct a proper investigation. In all likelihood Trump will vehemently defend him (blaming it all on "fake news," complaining about how "unfairly" Sessions is being treated, etc.) in the hopes that the storm will blow over. The bad news for Trump is that it isn't going to.
What would happen if this whole Russian debacle blows wide open, and it is beyond doubt Trump and company colluded? Also, couldn't/shouldn't the courts order the IRS to release his taxes? Seems like it'd save everyone a lot of time.
Massive political turmoil on a scale we've never seen. I don't even think our constitution has a prescription for it. The closest thing I can imagine would be something like the Nuremberg trials after the fall of Nazi Germany. The entire administration and all its staff would be subject to investigation. Also there would most likely be violence in the streets, because a handful of extremist Trump supporters would refuse to acknowledge reality, and instead believe the same racist, ultra-right wing conspiracy theories perpetuated by conservative talk radio and alt-right outlets like Breitbart that led them to vote for Trump in the first place. To them it would be the ultimate proof of a huge left-wing conspiracy led by Hillary Clinton and George Soros to overthrow the democratic order and start a communist revolution or some shit.

What about the courts/IRS though? If they can overturn executive orders, getting his taxes released should be simple?
Which makes it a tad ironic that the commie-hating far-right have chosen communist red as their team colour.
Nah that's Murica Blood-Red™, didn't you know that?
What about the courts/IRS though? If they can overturn executive orders, getting his taxes released should be simple?
Pretty sure even the president isn't exempt from a subpoena for tax returns. But they wouldn't just release them on a whim - they are private information after all. It would take a substantial legal investigation.
