Cyprus will offer Russia military facilities on its soil, President Nicos Anastasiades said on Friday.
In an interview with a local newspaper, Anastasiades said that a pact strengthening defense relations between the two countries will be signed when he visits Moscow on Feb. 25.
"There is an old (defense) agreement which is to be renewed as it is. At the same time, some additional facilities will be provided just like we do with other countries - France and Germany for example," Anastasiades said.
Cyprus is currently providing facilities to French planes, such as refueling and maintenance at an air force base near the western city of Paphos and port facilities to German ships supporting the United Nations peace operations in Lebanon.
The air force base at which Russian planes will use is about 40 kilometers from Britain's sovereign Air Force base at Akrotiri, on the south shores of Cyprus, which provides support to NATO operations in the Middle and Near East regions.
Thats Greece though, it's separate from Greece.
In the Cold War some leaders played both sides, it's a clever gambit if you can pull it off. In this case I think Cypus is in a solid position. It isn't like anyone is going to attack them for making these deals. Everyone will be content to have a presence in the area and won't cause problems.

That's what they want us to think.
They probably get something from this. Like money, intel, technology, human capital.

I'm not sure how it is for most other countries, but I can't imagine it'd be too different when compared to the benefits of hosting a US base, one of which is a proportionally massive boost to the locales economy in regards to things like the service industry employing more people and etc. to be able to provides good/services/etc. to the servicemen and their families.

I have no doubt they'll station their bases across a small river, and connect them with small bridge.
And constantly trying to steal each other documents.

Everyone wants a military base on Cyprus its like the best place strategically. There is a reason the British didn't give up parts of it..
(That mind you is the best way to keep a base as yours)
Cyprus, of all things? Totally would not expect that.

And the French would employ a masked motherfucker(literally) to do the job while the Russians will hire a sandwich loving shaved bear to defend it.

If anything, Estonia had to waste 400 million of expenses so they could station the US troops in here. Most of facilitations is provided by military personnel. What the fuck are you talking about?
If anything, due to Russian scare, we had to raise our military expenses instead.
