Talk about procrastination (or rather, ignorance of a fundamental flaw in your OS for nearly two decades): a Google engineer recently discovered a vulnerability in Microsoft's 32-bit Windows kernel that had been around since 1993. It's kind of funny that this thing has been around long enough to get a driver's license, but less so considering that it's exposed every Windows OS since then to hacker takeovers. The afflicted subsystem was the Windows Virtual DOS Machine, and the potential for damage was pretty serious, according to yesterday's Microsoft advisory: What might an attacker use this vulnerability to do? An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could run arbitrary code in kernel mode. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights. Bad news! Don't worry, they'll patch it. But do worry, for all the other teenage bugs out there that no one's caught yet.
Source - Gizmodo And that my friends, is why you run Linux :smug:
And that my friends, is why you run Linux :smug:
Windows > Linux :smug:
i didn't know wine supports all the games that windows supports [editline]11:25PM[/editline] brb switching now
it doesn't- wait that's the joke.
Windows > Linux :smug:
that really depends on what you're planning to do with your computer
Linux has its bugs I'm sure. Every program has its bugs. Just Windows has a wider audience to infect.
We all know Linux is perfect guys come on thats why everyone runs it
linux is for people who know what they're doing
I like how damn quickly this turned into another Linux v Windows thread.
Give this thread some Mac
A Linux V Windows thread again. :frown:
Goddamnit Gizmodo, good job telling everyone.
blame the op
combine the best things of windows and the best things of linux and create winux [editline]06:52PM[/editline] make it free too
Windows has no positive traits. :colbert:
Windows has no positive traits. :colbert:
you're just jealous becuase i dont have to open cmd or compile a program everytime i want to install something, and i can play more games than you.
you're just jealous becuase i dont have to open cmd or compile a program everytime i want to install something
I actually like doing it this way. :v:
and i can play more games than you.
Sometimes I wish I didn't like games. :(
And that my friends, is why you run Linux
haha, no.
And that my friends, is why you run Linux :smug:
Unless you intend to use your computer for actual work, or video games
I don't see why people bash windows so much. I use Windows XP and it's a great operating system, sure it has a few bugs, but all OSs do. But i guess if you want your computer to be compatible with almost anything, then you should go with windows.
Yeah, i have a Linux partition to do everyday tasks, and a windows partition just for gaming. That's it :v:
you're just jealous becuase i dont have to open cmd or compile a program everytime i want to install something, and i can play more games than you.
The whole point of compiling your own programs is to increase customization. There are things called repositories too, which makes installing things and keeping them up to date 1000x easier than on windows. The only reason there aren't more games for linux (and the reason it's less popular) is because directx and most video drivers are proprietary and can't be ported over. Linux is really only for servers, enthusiasts and freeloaders currently, but it will always be faster, more secure and a lot more flexible than any other operating system.
This appears to be a Windows vs. Linux thread disguised as a news article.
And that my friends, is why you run Linux :smug:
Yay! Bandwagoning! And that my friends, is why you run Irix :smug:

Xp sucks.
Good thing I'm running 64 bit :smug:
windows sucks linux sucks mac sucks dell is awesome
I like how damn quickly this turned into another Linux v Windows thread.
Its only took a few minutes and two posts after the OP to do so. :downs:
Windows > Linux :smug:
That's true, _Only_ when using your PC for gaming. And you know that ¬¬ For everything else, I always suggest Linux... most bugs on Linux are reported and resolved in a matter of minutes...
