A Northern California woman says her Chihuahua died protecting her children from two pit bulls that got into her apartment.
Mayda Estrella, of Richmond, says the family's Chihuahua, named Manchas, jumped in between the canine invaders and her four-year-old son Sunday. A pit bull grabbed Manchas with its jaws and carried the Chihuahua away.
Contra Costa County animal services officials say the Chihuahua was killed, and the pit bulls are now in custody.
The pit bulls' owner says they had escaped their yard by chewing through a fence. Estrella says her front door was open when the dogs came in.
She says when she saw the dogs come in, she ran into a bedroom with her other child, a newborn baby.
County officials say the owner won't face criminal charges.

:frown: That's a dog for you. Poor Manchas. Don't say anything like "Good riddance, I hate chihuahuas", this thing saved a kid. That's a noble dog. RIP.
Pit Bulls are really..ugh. It's pretty sad how they're raised. It completely ruined their breed.
Augh, fail title. Random capitalized from.
~chihuahua cultists~
He died, trying to save his family. He succeeded.
God bless Manchas.
That was a badass little chihuahua. Hope they put those pit bulls down.

The dogs are "ruined", and need to be put down for their own good. But realize that it's not the dog, but the owner that causes Pipit bulls to be violent.

Wasn't the pit bull's fault, was the owner's fault for not taking care of the pit bulls properly. It's been made clear on a lot of occasions that the behaviour of the animals in question is entirely down to how they are conditioned by their owners.
so she just left the other child there?

I realize that. The owners need to be investigated indeed. Just bothers me that this is the second instance in a year that I've seen in this county (my girlfriend lives in San Pablo) of dogs mauling another smaller animal (in that instance, a cat) to death.
I have a pit bull, and really, he is not violent in any way. Sure, He would retaliate if threatened, but it really just depends on the way the dog was raised.
aren't there cases of pitbulls that were just happy-slappy dogs that just kinda snapped?
aren't there cases of pitbulls that were just happy-slappy dogs that just kinda snapped?
There are some dogs who are entirely passive, but because pitbulls were originally intended to be fighting dogs, they still have a natural conditioning to fight, if a pit bull has been happy-slappy all it's life, and hasn't been punished, how does it know aggressive behaviour is wrong?
Keep your door closed? idiot.
It's not like people need to open their door for any reason, right?
:downs:
That's one hell of a dog.
OH NO DOGS, RUN AWAY AND ABANDON YOUR OTHER CHILD.
Fuck you. They were dogs. You are a person. You are three times their size and have hands. Do you think dogs have any actual defense against a bipedal creature capable of grabbing and throwing them through a window?

I seen pix of a guy who literally got his face torn off by a pit bull
Yeah because people are immediately afraid of them and somehow believe they can't fight them.
I have dogs and an invisible fence. It means my yard attracts dogs and there is nothing keeping other dogs out. I've fought with more dogs than I care to recall. Larger breeds will hurt, but again, they don't have a response to being picked up and thrown.
punt them in the face, but to be fair she was holding a baby, she's older than you, and probably not in the best physical condition after just having a baby
Fyi, it died saving the child the mother forgot about. read the full story.
cunt mama

pero, no me gusta las chihuahuas muchas
I used to hate chihuahuas but after my dad bought one they are cool little dogs. They have no sense of size. What a good dog though, too bad it died. But it is funny they are protective as hell but can't really do much.
Manchas will go down in the history books as the toughest chihuahua ever.
:sympathy:
I love chihuahuas.

HA HA DOGS!
SEE MY OPPOSABLE THUMBS!
:neckbeard:
Yeah I'll get right on picking up a large dog which wishes to bite the shit out of me and then throwing it.
Totally.
I would however kick the shit out of it with my steel toed boots :v:

If you see a dog that might be threatening, the last thing you need to do is be scared. In fact, seeing them and randomly running at them and yelling scares the shit out of them and they normally back off. I worked for me with a dangerous loose rottweiler.
