• My Medical Mystery(AKA, Stomach problems^100)

Medical threads pop up on Facepunch like weeds, never ceasing. Today, however, I bring something different, the ongoing story of my suffering. No doubt every person on FP has, at one point, had a terrible stomach ache. Some of you may have had stomach viruses, ulcers or just simple indigestion. What I have, is none of those. Nobody knows what it is, and it's terrible. It's debilitating, painful and crippling, and if you have anything in common with the story I'm going to tell you, SEE A DOCTOR ASAP. I am 15 years old. Since I was younger, I have had stomach issues, resulting in stomach pains unmatchable by any torture, disease or disorder known to man(at least, to me). I register a perfect ten on the pain scale used by doctors. However, my parents and I wrote these stomach issues off as mere food poisoning or other dietary problems. As of May tenth, this was proven wrong. I had an episode, resulting in diarrhea, immense pain and discomfort. I was taken to the nearest hospital Pediatric ward, where all blood tests came back negative. Nothing conclusive, I was sent home with a cocktail of medicines to calm my stomach, and a blanket diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome. Then today happened. While many of us on FP slept, I was in my bathroom screaming on my floor while EMTs came to take me to the nearest hospital. Another episode had come, and this time it was worse, as vomiting was involved. The EMTs were experienced, and upon arrival gave me the news; going to the hospital would do nothing, as stomach problems with no verifiable abdominal trauma can't really be treated, and going to the hospital would just aggravate my mother and possibly stress my condition further. I listened, and we stayed in my house for another hour. All this happened starting at 23:00 EST on the 13th. After a bit, I decided to calm my anxiety disorder accompanying my physical ailment and my mom drove me to a nearby pediatric hospital(a very, very good one at that). After several hours of waiting in the pediatric ER, undergoing blood tests, I received news that my white blood count was slightly elevated, which could indicate infection. IV in arm, I was taken to a CT to make sure there were no visible abnormalities. My first CT was this morning, and it showed nothing. I was, once again sent home. Today however, I went home with new medicines to counter act the current problem, and a referral for a Pediatric GI specialist. And that's my story. I will continue to update it in the hopes that it might hope someone here, perhaps just to know that they're not alone. Below is a list of symptoms, medicines prescribed and possible stresses of the affliction. Symptoms -Intense abdominal pain(across entire abdomen) -Heartburn sensation -Gas -Diarrhea -Crapping like you've never crapped before -Vomiting(this one is beyond bad, if you vomit and have GI pains, run to an ER -IMMEDIATELY-, appendicitis is not fun) Stress triggers -Stress -Foods(exact ones TBD) -Anxiety/panic attacks I hope that someone here may be able to use this, or that you all find it interesting. Go nuts.
If you have vomiting and stomach pains could mean food poisoning. Not for you obviously. Just saying in general doesn't mean you should run to hospital.
Stress triggers -Stress
No crap.
We need a subfourm for this. And do you take anti depressants OP?
Because everybody on facepunch has a medical doctorate.
Lol
We need a subfourm for this. And do you take anti depressants OP?
Yes, I do, but not for much longer. I'm actually going off on them(by order of my psychiatrist).
well it's obviously not lupus
Sounds like you could have an irritable bowel syndrome or an inflamed bowel disease
Yes, I do, but not for much longer. I'm actually going off on them(by order of my psychiatrist).
That would trigger it. But anything before coming off of it I don't know. And obligatory you have aids, and go to the doctor. [editline]11:45PM[/editline] Wait! Just go to dr. house!
Post pics of diarrhea.
I'm afraid you've got cancer.
Its metamorphosis your turning into something other than a human being. :iiam: /Also eat food like white bread and rice it should stay in with your diarrhea. //Long term diarrhea can cause rectal prolapse. ///Straight off from http://pathmicro.med.sc.edu/parasitology/cestodes.htm Symptoms: Light infections remain asymptomatic, but heavier infections may produce abdominal discomfort, epigastric pain, vomiting and diarrhea. Looks like you got parasites in you buddy.
Obviously an alien hatching.
I'm willing to bet a parasite wouldn't show on blood tests if they stuck to your guts.
Take Vicadin. Take Vicadin.
I once had really bad stomach problems, it felt like I was being stabbed in the gut and it kept me up for hours. Went to the doctor, took morphine that didn't help. And it turned out that I was constipated... :sigh:
I used to have similar episodes as the OP, the stomach pain was so bad I'd fall to the floor and once, I passed out. Doctors didn't know what was wrong. Around 15 years old is when they just up and stopped. OP, if you're having chronic stomach pain try marijuana. I'm serious. It's helped someone I know in a similar situation.
Chroms Disease. Look it up. You're fucked either way. [editline]08:51PM[/editline] Also tell the hospital to do a biopsy of your intestine, see if there's anything out of the ordinary.
This is your face. You hurts worst.

And I'm sorry to hear that, mate. Glad to hear it's gone, though.
I used to get pains in my sides a lot. It hurts like fuck
Not many read op.
i actually have symptoms like you, or did. my gi doctor + fam doctor both said IBS, but im not even sure. I had some kind of bacterial disease caused from undercooked/infected food at friendlys last year. about a few months after that was "cured" i got these stomach issues out of no where. when i had that disease, i had your same exact symptoms. here i am still living with this not knowing what it is. w/e. as long as there is no blood it shouldn't be anything too serious i assume?
My girlfriend had something like this, turns out it was exacerbated by an undetected form of Lactose intolerance, since early stages are undetectable.
My girlfriend had something like this, turns out it was exacerbated by an undetected form of Lactose intolerance, since early stages are undetectable.
That too was on the possibility block. Right now, actually, I feel pretty nauseous due to it all.
If you feel as though you're on the verge of passing out, and vomit suddenly and randomly, you could have severe blood clots, maybe in the legs or arms which are detaching [editline]03:31AM[/editline] would explain the heartburn too
I feel sorry for you OP. My advice: find something you can bite down on during the episodes of stomach pain. It should help. Might not be good for your teeth, but it will help the pain.
Maybe you should look into a condition known as Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome. It's very rare, but the symptoms seem pretty similar to what you are experiencing, and I've heard that it is pure hell. Here are the symptoms from http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/zollinger/ burning abdominal pain nausea and vomiting weight loss diarrhea severe gastroesophageal reflux—a condition where gastric acid and food from the stomach backs up into the esophagus
