Valve will release free Portal 2 downloadable content titled "Perpetual Testing Initiative" for PC and Mac on May 8, the publisher said today.Valve says you'll be able to "easily create, share, and play Portal 2 puzzles" with the new DLC, which lets you publish maps directly to Steam. Other players will be able to browse, vote, and download user-created maps to play in their own versions of the game.
Time to re-install Portal 2.
already lost interest :/
I can't wait to copy other people's work and pass it off as my own.
If it doesn't come with a seamless glados TTS (the original game had a voice done by actor) it's not worth it.
Fuck yeah, been waiting on this for ages.
Wow, it took them an entire year to bring this out.
I thought it was already out :/
Or was that a beta?
Wooh, can't wait for June 26!

The SDK and level creator are two different things.
Gonna be interesting to see how it works
It's likely tile based. I can't think of any other way that you could make simple, good looking maps.

yea because the only thing the 250 employes of valve were doing was working on this right
So it's like the Authoring Tools, but piss easy to use?
AND you get to play in them with your friends without using hacky methods to do so?

Also, title is partially misleading.
It says a month, yet it's only 12 days away.

You gotta take Valve time in consideration.
What is June 26 now might be December 24 tomorrow.
Aw. I was hoping that that us losers who have the game on the Xbox would get it.
dang
Oh boy, I can't create for this to come out! It'll be just as successful as gmod level saving!
wait
Pffft the real scenery where Portal 2 shined for me the most are the old aperture parts and not the boring test chambers.
Also GLORIOUS HAMMER EDITOR USING MASTER RACE

Why would you build crane towers when there is a rock wall right next to it where you could anchor the crane instead?

They've been busy with Ricochet 2.

Hammer isn't about WHY,IT'S ABOUT WHY NOT!
It also may seem like it from the angle, but there is no wall behind the cranes.
I'm just waiting for the army of 12 year olds thinking they're level designers because they can use this tool. Hammer and the rest of Source SDK will still be better.
I'll probably just use this to design actual puzzles and then head in to hammer and twat around with it there

But I bet that this will be far more user friendly.
I'll be honest with you, I don't care enough to make a Portal 2 map to learn how to use Hammer.
Sure, this won't be as advanced and you could probably only make simple things, but it'll get the job done.
I could kind of see this being useful for a rapid prototyping of a puzzle to make sure it's actually possible to finish and fun before recreating it in Hammer with the desired theme and details. But it could also be great fun just to make small puzzles quickly to dick around with friends in.

Because we can
They've already given out some beta access to the new level editor.
It's amazing. That is all.
Too little too late, valve, it's been a year and everyone has lost interest.
Seems like a good entrance point for those on the edge about learning Hammer, making a map in there and then taking it to the next level in hammer

Tile based map building its totally different from Hammer.
They are barely comparable in their methods of building maps.
DLC mean we gotta pay for it?
