The civilian version of the mighty Hongqi L5 finally debuted on the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. The Hongqi L5 is China’s answer to the Bentley Mulsanne and Rolls-Royce Phantom. Around-around we heard that the first car has been sold to a very wealthy Chinese businessman for 4.9 million yuan or 800.000 USD.
I actually like the interior, but who makes an $800,000 car with turn-key ignition?

i think turn key ignition is the least of their problems with that interior
I love turn-key ignition in a car, turning the key is the third-most manly thing you can do with a car, with powersliding being second and changing gears with extreme precision whilst racing around a track being first.
There's no drama in pressing a button.
What's wrong with turning a key?
What's wrong with turning a key?
its getting old fashioned on high price cars
What's wrong with turning a key?
americans who cant drive stick lmao
Am I the only one in the entire world that prefers turn-key ignition to all this fancy push-button bullshit?
That wood design is kind of ugly.

at least with supercars, they should all come with overhead switches for maximum drama

Well if you're gonna shit $800k on a car it better have all the newest and coolest gadgets, right? Especially since this seems to be some sort of luxury car you'd expect some really impressive interior tech.

That dash looks like it needs fish in it and to be owned by a bond villain.
I think it looks beautiful. The placement for the ignition is sort of weird though, usually it's sideways by the wheel.
What's wrong with turning a key?
Nothing inherently wrong with it, its out of place in a $800,000 luxo-barge though.

I might ask my dad about it, considering he owns a BMW with push-start ignition.
But most push-start cars are good for forgetting your keys in your pocket so all you have to do is jump in, apply the brakes, and press 'START/STOP'.
That's one disgusting looking car

Most super expensive high-end cars apparently aren't actually available as manuals.. so I'd be surprised if this one was
God that car looks ugly.
Interiors should match the exteriors, and what the hell is with that random red fin on the hood?
So tacky
There is just so much that looks wrong about this car.
it's an average looking car, you racists

Which is annoying. You'd think that, at that price point at least, you'd be able to get a third pedal if you wanted one.

I still have this adolescent dream where one day I will purchase something like a VW Type 2 and invest the time into installing switch panels, much like in an aircraft/spaceship.
So to start the car you have to;
-Flip an overhead switch to turn on the battery
-Flip a switch to turn on the fuel pump
-Start the engineturning the key and then simultaneously holding the spark-ignition button and the starter engage button.
Headlights, interior lights, you name it. Everything will have a switch and more.
Not only would it be a badass transportation, but NO ONE would ever be able to steal your ride, but you.
I like the old school exterior. Interior is horrible. I've seen Mercedes that look more luxurious on the inside for 700,000 less.
$800,000 and no cupholder? Count me out.
This car looks like an old american car that appeared in pawn stars but with a smaller grill.
The design has barely evolved since the 1960s...

Why change what is already perfect?
Why change what is already perfect?
Yeah perfect, if you're a WW2 veteran.
From what I understand, rich Chinese people like to be driven. It's possible the owner of the car will never turn that key. Their driver will. It's why a lot of luxury cars made for the Chinese market have their back seat space extended because that's where the owner will sit.
