"Live" Fetus' Face cut open to extract its brain? - General

This video, (and incredibly emotionally charged and manipulative "news" articles with it enclosed) has been blowing up the conservative side of my Facebook. And I won't deny, if what's claimed at face value is true... that doctors are taking still "living" fetuses with "beating hearts" and jabbing them through the face with surgical scissors to extract their brains for whatever reason... then yeah, that's pretty fucking grisly, and not at all good ammo to be giving the fucking conservatives. But then again, I've ONLY seen this posted from biased conservative sources. Considered posting an article in "SH," but couldn't find anyone posting strictly the facts and not using manipulative and emotional language. Further, the Youtube channel posted has an official sounding name, but seems to ONLY contain content relating to planned parenthood. So... real? Bullshit to make PP out as butchers to people who already believe it? Missing context? Somehow I can't imagine medical doctors wouldn't humanely euthanize it before harvesting organs, but then I don't believe an abortion should have gotten to the stage where the thing looks more like a human than a sea monkey. Woman's body, woman's choice, I know. It still skeeves my ass out.

I'd wait to see if any other sources that aren't right wing claim that this is true before making a conclusion.

If you think the aborted fetus is a human and has all the rights therein then yes, you should be upset at them selling its body parts - but then you are probably against abortion. If you don't think a fetus is a human and has all the rights therein, I don't know why you would be upset at them selling the body parts - in fact, since the parts go to science labs a ton of experimental good comes from them.

Conservatives are at war with Planned Parenthood because PP dares offend their morals - namely that women are allowed to determine their own reproductive choices. 5% of PP's budget is spent on abortions, and yet there was that faked video that heavily edited a PP official so that it appeared that PP was selling fetuses' organs on the black market. It had zero truth to it. The real problem they have with PP is that it empowers women to decide if they want to have sex (out of wedlock) and if they want to have children (this is somehow offensive to fundie Christian values and apparently women exist to be baby factories). Like I said, no issues with proper abortion done good and early. I know it's still the woman's right, since the fetus depends on her body to survive, and it's HER body, but late term outside emergency or deformity or disease is just an asshole thing to do. If you let it get that late, you might as well follow through. And while I know using the parts for medical research is better than throwing them in the bin, I can't help but have compunctions about it when the thing has a quasi-human face and FINGERS. And I certainly hope it IS dead before you jab scissors through faces. But again, let's hear the facts from an independent source. Me, I can't really just say, "oh it's not human." Yeah, I didn't figure this was legit, hence the plentiful airquotes in the OP. I just didn't figure this was made from whole cloth. I've heard that video you refer to is fake, but also heard it referred to on NPR as real, so I guess I just need to see where the fakery lies. I try not to dismiss claims out of hand, even if my bullshit alarm is going off. I don't think it's becoming of me to say something is bullshit without finding either evidence to the contrary, or a paucity of evidence for the claimant's case.

I think the suggestion that medical professionals are mutilating living fetuses' faces to extract their brains speaks entirely for itself as far as determining if this is bullshit. If you need more evidence than this and the documented hoax the same pro-life organization participated in last month, you've already swallowed the propaganda whole and are infected. This is straight up fearmongering in an attempt to defund Planned Parenthood, an organization that, as I said, only devotes 5% of its resources to [U]safe[/U] abortions. The other 95% of its work is devoted to reproductive health, such as providing condoms and educating people about safe sex. Fundie Christians would rather America be a place where no one is taught about sex until they're 18, abstinence-only sex ed replaces any sort of reproductive health education, and abortions are illegal. Planned Parenthood represents an unacceptable moral "problem" in that it's doing exactly the opposite. Thing is, if you want to boost the abortion rate, just take away condoms and stop teaching teens about safe sex - boom, unwanted pregnancy rate goes through the roof, and with it, the abortion rate. And if you take away legal abortions, women will seek out unsafe illegal abortions (where there are NO ethical boundaries preventing them from selling fetal organs for profit, precisely what DOESN'T happen with legal abortions!).

Sometimes checking the "About" page is even enough to determine whether you should even try to take them seriously, but otherwise go to Wikipedia or just look at what they've written in the past and determine the general trustworthiness of the source. Okay, I lied, I mostly just look at the title (as in this case) and go "Yeah, bullshit", but it's a good thing to check either way.

I know that much. It just seemed too much even for conservatives to be posting articles of fake outrage about a fake circumstance from a video that's evidently a tissue of lies.
