Honestly didn't know that [sp]the whole "cheering when someone drops a glass"[/sp] was something that other countries didn't do until watching this :v:
I love him
I've never known that cheering when [sp]someone drops a glass[/sp] is a thing. :what:
What the fuck who is that socially awkward enough to disagree with you about the weather?
I don't remember it ever happening :v:

Hahaha I fucking love it. After everybody cheers and you realise you weren't alone in your joy of seeing somebody being clumsy, everybody is just that little bit happier in their soul.
Yeah the cheering when someone drops glassware isn't a thing in the US. However in my family, whenever glassware is dropped, someone has to quote Groundhog's Day: "Yeah, just put that anywhere pal."
Bloody hell, Stephen Fry is starting to look old. It's the Pythons all over again.
On another note, why on earth has he not received a knighthood yet? I'd dare say it's criminal.

Really? Not even necessarily cheering when someone drops a glass, just when someone drops something or messes up like falling over is usually met with a loud 'WHEEEEEEEEY'

I was at a wedding when a waiter dropped a huge stack of plates down a set of stone stairs in what has to be the longest, loudest and most embarrassing fuckup I have ever seen. Needless to say the guests could hardly contain themselves.

when we drop glassware we usually say "ugh god dammit" or "FUCK"

At my university, every time someone breaks a glass or dish in the main dinning hall the whole room will cheer and applaud. Sometimes when its busy there can be over 500 people eating at a time so it gets pretty crazy when someone breaks something.

that is bizarre
why even :v:

He looks fine! It's just the graying hair.
The knighthood is probably because he has been a criminal himself :v:
I usually disagree about weather with friends. Sometimes I am there in a t-shirt and my friends are in jackets saying "It's freezing!". When I say "It's not too bad..." their reply is usually something along the lines of it's because I'm Polish and being able to take cold weather better. :v:

I do it literally every time someone brings up the weather with me. I ain't gonna lie, and my opinions on the weather happen to be contrary to everyone on the planet.

I think it has something to do with the culture at my school. Its not uncommon to find bananas taped to the side of buildings, statues, cars, and bicycles or googly eyes glued to anything that has a face(The bronze tiger statue is my favorite when this happens).
I always felt the cheering at things breaking was to liven the mood. If someone fucks up and drops a glass, everyone can see it and they feel like a total idiot, and they have to clean it up with this shameful atmosphere. But the cheer just helps you laugh it off and realize everyone knows you fucked up, but it's alright.
The cheering would just make me feel more ashamed, honestly.
The cheering would just make me feel more ashamed, honestly.
It's better than everyone giving you the "haha look at that idiot" look

i dont know about your state, but here in texas, it's pretty common if you're at a restaurant, even a relatively high end one, and someone in the kitchen drops a platter or glasses or something, usually out of eyesight, that a good number of people cheer
the louder the mess, the more cheering from more people
usually dont do it if the waiter/person-who-dropped-it is in front of you though, for courtesy
when we drop glassware we usually say "ugh god dammit" or "FUCK"
Well that makes sense, everyone who drops a glass has a right to say that. But so long as you're not the one dropping it, it's always fun to have a good old "WHEEEEEEEY!"
The cheering would just make me feel more ashamed, honestly.
It's like you think that isn't the point. Well, half of the point. Any idiot can drop a plate or glass and break it, you've probably done it yourself. Everyone knows anyone could do it, so it's the most British thing possible, making joy out of failure that you've experienced yourself. Wheyyy!

Cheering when someone drops something is fairly common here. (Texas)
Maybe it's a regional thing.
I feel like if I dropped something and everyone cheered I'd feel a lot better than quietly trying to pretend it never happened as I clean it up thinking "oh god I hope no one is staring at me, im so embarrassed"
over here if you fall over, people mostly cheer
I broke a glass at work, people cheered.
It's kind of a done thing like "hah, you fucked up but no worries." sort of thing.
Nobody really explains why they do it, it just happens.

everybody at my college up here in new england does this when it happens at the dining commons. guess that's why it's "new england" lol
That was filmed at my local pub in dartmouth park! Awesome.
I've never known that cheering when [sp]someone drops a glass[/sp] is a thing. :what:
In Australia it's tradition for the entire pub to start yelling "TAXI" if somebody drops a glass. Hilarious every time.
It's better than everyone giving you the "haha look at that idiot" look
Wait? I've always thought cheering was like Wheeey what an idiot!
I've never known that cheering when [sp]someone drops a glass[/sp] is a thing. :what:
Working at a bar it helps you get over the embarrassment of dropping glasses in front of a couple hundred people if you join in on the cheering :v:
