The LADEE mission will be the 24th overall launch of the Minotaur family of vehicles, the fifth Minotaur launch from Wallops Flight Facility, and LADEE will be the 45th satellite launched by a Minotaur rocket.

The mission also represents a number of firsts, including: First launch of the Minotaur V configuration First five-stage vehicle flown by Orbital First Peacekeeper-based vehicle launched from Wallops Flight Facility First Lunar mission flown by Orbital First Lunar mission flown from Wallops
http://www.orbital.com/NewsInfo/MissionUpdates/MinotaurV/index.shtml
The targeted launch window on September 6, 2013 is from 11:27 - 11:31 PM EDT.
Watch live here: http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html#.Uio6DD-912o Times for your area: http://timeanddate.com/s/2epr If you live near Virgina you might be able to see it launch. Look at the source for more information.
More importantly: Here's where you can see it [t]https://d1jqu7g1y74ds1.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Empire-State-Building.jpg[/t]
Hay there, purdy LADEE, you're out of this world.
However if you live in the 5 degree range you probably won't see it unless you have a perfectly clear horizon. Try to find a hill or rooftop where you don't have any buildings or trees in the way. I live in South Jersey hopefully i see the rocket
Is there a countdown for non americans?
Scientists hope the Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer, or LADEE, will also solve a 45-year-old mystery - a predawn glow over the lunar limb first spotted by NASA's early moon missions, then recounted in journals recorded by Apollo astronauts. And if that's not enough technology packed into the 7.7-foot-tall LADEE spacecraft, the mission will take a key step toward overhauling the way NASA communicates with its deep space missions, potentially leading to a type of interplanetary fiber optic network allowing high-definition video and mounds of data to stream back to Earth from rovers on Mars, manned missions visiting asteroids, and probes to other far-flung destinations. "The LADEE mission is going to give us whole new vistas on our nearest neighbor, and I'm very excited about that," said John Grunsfeld, associate administrator for NASA's science mission directorate.
http://www.spaceflightnow.com/minotaur/ladee/130905preview/#.Uio-2z-912o Orbital Sciences Corp. will also be launching it's new Cygnus cargo ship to the ISS later this month.
I live in VA. Which way will I have to be looking? I live in Norfolk, so I'm guessing I should be looking north at about 11:27 PM, right?
Is there a countdown for non americans?
If I didn't somehow screw this up it should be right: http://timeanddate.com/s/2epr I set it so it's a bit early so you don't miss it.
will there be any streams to see the rocket launch? i'm living near toronto so there's zero chance i'll be able to see this on my own

I'd be fine with that if it means that science can go further.
MARS LANDING #1 BROUGHT TO YOU BY MONSTER ENERGY DRINKS
First people on Mars will be scouts for Red Bull and Monster looking for ever more extreme places for their extreme sports teams.
Well, guess I'm going to the beach tonight. I live on the Connecticut shoreline so I should have a good view!
It says my town is out of range but from the Google Earth trajectory line it looks as if I will be able to see it from the top of my school's parking deck.

Lame. I can't see it from Ken- tucky
I wouldn't be able to see it because of tree cover.
I'm going to try to watch it, but there might be too much light pollution to really see it.
Why aren't they launching it from Florida :( We have the Space Coast goddamnit
