Military court sentences four men to death over killing of police during unrest, state media says. A Bahraini military court has sentenced four Shia protesters to death and three to life jail terms for the killing of two policemen during demonstrations last month, state media has reported. Thursday's verdicts are the first related to the uprising against the Gulf kingdom's ruling family, which begain in February. The seven defendants were tried behind closed doors on charges of premeditated murder of government employees, which their lawyers have denied. A Shia opposition official named those sentenced to death as Ali Abdullah Hasan, Qasim Hassan Mattar, Saeed Abdul Jalil Saeed, and Abdul Aziz Abdullah Ibrahim. He told the AFP news agency that Issa Abdullah Kazem, Sadiq Ali Mahdi, and Hussein Jaafar Abdul Karim were sentenced to life in prison.
http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2011/04/201142881322769709.html well fuck
I thought they killed innocent protesters but these people killed other people and its Bahrain. Mandatory death sentence for killing/murder no matter what.
Well, if they actually did kill the officers, this is good, but military courts aren't really known for fairness.
Interesting considering a death sentence in Bahrain is very rare. Even people who killed police officers by throwing Molotov Cocktails at their car last year weren't given death. Also, please be realistic when creating the title, I realize that was the title by AJ but Facepunch has a tendency not to read past the title. I edited it for you.

Protestors being sentenced? Police being killed? Seems strange though. What were the protests about and why did they escalate to violence?
"behind closed doors" No faith in the system.
Being capable of killing another can be a sign of a strong individual who stands up for himself and for what he holds most dearest, and in such a case the killer should be sentenced for about a 4 years to evaluate if he's truly dangerous, and not death. Though in this case, as I don't have the specifics, it's hard to say do they deserve the death penalty for what they did, killing two police officers. But I guess it comes down to few key things; was it really premeditated? was it just a senseless, unquestionable act of morality? or was it just an outcome of a firefight? I think those are the things that should be brought up in court. But for example, if the police officers found themselves surrounded in a dangerous situation, and they laid down their weapons for their own good and got senselessly "executed" by the few protesters, the death penalty is justified, in my eyes at least.
that's if they killed any police at all, and are being targetting for a lesser crime as they're shia
murder isn't a lesser crime?
