Interested in buying a system camera, but which one?

As I understand it, when it comes to those system cameras it's more about the ergonomy, right? Well I've been looking around for a nice system camera as a personal hobby thingy, with a budget of £300-£500 or so. I'm lost in the big jungle of nice cameras, help me out here please. :v:
