I didn't see a thread on this anywhere so I decided to share the news.
Avatar is going back to theaters August 27th with some extended never before seen footage.
AKA the movie only looks good when it's in 3D in theaters and not on our giant 60" LED LCD 3D TVs.
AKA we want to top box office again.
AKA James Cameron needs another house made of gold.
In all seriousness though, I am SO excited to see it again, and this time in IMAX. Gonna go with my mom who didn't see it the first time it came out, so she can too experience it.

This is such a shit movie. I'm serious. Watched it half way, got bored and left the theater. It's just Pocahontas with aliens.
It was overrated but it was still a good movie.
I never even saw this film in theaters. I only saw it when someone brought it into class on the last day of school.
Shit sucked.
It's only enjoyable if you have a really nice entertainment system. Basically the whole film is just eye candy. Still enjoyable for me though.
It probably sucks, but i wanna see it for the SFXs.
$20 says the unseen footage is the sex scene they previously took out.

Yeah the movie is a B- movie without 3D, and an A+ movie when all the 3D and visuals are added.

Movie was visually stunning
As a film, however, it was lacking. Shitty dialogue, done-to-death story, predictable climactic battle.
[sp]Initial ambush, protagonists have upper hand, bad guys get it together, start massacring the protagonists, moment of hopelessness, then here comes the cavalry. End it with a ridiculous FINAL BOSS FIGHT with Stephen Lang in a mech suit.[/sp]

I never got why some people said the Blue Alien love interest was so hot? She looked ugly. I wanted Sigourney Weaver to use a Flamethrower on her "Aliens style"

I doubt I'll see it again. It was interesting to experience that world and as a student looking to work in CG it was mind blowing but the actual film itself really feels uninspired looking back on it

Seriously? How greedy can you get. If he wants the public to see his uncut footage so bad why can't he just put out a uncut DVD like Peter Jackson and what not. This is jut plain silly.

I didn't care it had a cliched story, I thought the acting was fine, The visuals were amazing.
I thought it was a nice movie.
People kept telling me how good the 3D was, so when I finally decided to watch it, it was sold out. And I never bothered to buy tickets in adavance. So I ended up watching it in 2D. Might was it in 3D this time.

I was going to do this, but that would mean leaving my friend behind who was very eager and excited to see this film.

Obviously you've never seen Dances with Wolves, which is basically what Avatar was based off of.
