More than 6 million people have signed up for Obamacare, as a crush of people raced to get health insurance before the March 31 deadline.
Administration officials announced the milestone Thursday amid an intense outreach drive. There were more than 1.5 million visits to HealthCare.gov and more than 430,000 calls to the call centers on Wednesday.
Those who've started the application by next Monday but are unable to finish because of technical issues will receive more time to complete the process, officials have said.
Out of 300 million?
Out of 300 million?
You only have to signup if you don't have private insurance afaik
You only have to signup if you don't have private insurance afaik
98% of Americans have private insurance?
Out of 300 million?
6 million out of the x number of people who do not have insurance.
98% of Americans have private insurance?
I don't know how many don't have insurance, but not everyone needs it so it's not like the ACA has only affected 2% of the population.
meanwhile employers are slashing work hours to avoid Obamacare insurance mandate, big victory guys
all of you are rating winners while this is fucking so many people in the ass

Unless you either agree to kick the bucket when things go bad or expect to be able to pay for any treatment you might end up needing without trouble out of your pocket, then you do need health insurance.
Health insurance isn't for people who are ill. Health insurance is for everyone who doesn't want to get shafted when they get ill. That's the entire point of insurance.

People still get shafted in this country with health insurance.

Well then that's not the insurance you need.

The business mandate is not in effect until next year. Do your research. Businesses using the ACA as an excuse to fire people are lying about their reasons and intentions.

No, no its not. And honestly, if companies en masse started doing that, that'd be hilarious.
You really can't say what Obamacare has done yet. Programs like this only really show their effects in 3 - 6 years.

Or the government could provide subsidised access to health care instead of pretty much forcing people to go out and get private insurance. Such a typical 'Murrican thing.

You realize that the entire thing wouldn't work without a mandate right? If only sick people buy insurance then it doesn't work at all. That's the whole point of insurance.

I don't think he's arguing for the fact that it's mandatory for everyone more than the fact that we're already seeing effects of the mandate in jobs cutting hours. As far as I know, at least from how it's affected me, we've had to large amounts of hours. Hurts pretty badly for those employed.

I like how this got dumbed more than agreed, are you people really that fucking blind? Most of you probably work for the fucking government anyway.
Semi-related but do people actually think this dumbass is cool because of this? This is the fucking monkey who would take over if something happened to our current 'President'. Are people really okay with this? Jesus christ.

Meanwhile, 60 million are still trying to register.

Wow, basing your whole opinion on a gif that has no context.
Totally fair observation
I had no other option than to sign up for the bullshit known as obamacare. Because of the shit law, I became ineligible to get insurance through my current workplace because I am part time.
If they are trying to use this number to show people that enjoy it/love it, they are fucking morons.
You really can't say what Obamacare has done yet. Programs like this only really show their effects in 3 - 6 years.
Programs like this suck nuts. None of the hospitals here will accept you with obamacare. It's all a big fucking joke. People are paying for it, yet our hospitals won't accept it as a form of insurance. Yea it's great people have health insurance! But wait until you find out how many hospitals won't acknowledge it. I'm going with the fines every year until I get in with a good company. The minimum I could pay for health care is $1,080 a year. The penalties aren't going to be anywhere near that high for awhile.

You ever stop to think that that's employers being cheap assholes trying to screw their employees over rather than give them their proper rights and pay in order to wring more money out of them, not an inherent part of the healthcare system? Free healthcare is working just fine in the rest of the first world.

Implying any of us are qualified/old enough/wanting those kinds of jobs. :v:

The companies aren't trying to screw the employees. They're trying to keep the bottom line, or increase it, which in turn can screw the employee.
But because of this law, (which isn't free healthcare, you still have to pay) companies cut hours below full time so the employee doesn't qualify for health care. Perhaps if this weren't the law, people's hours wouldn't get cut.
And how many of these are people signing up for MEDICAID, not the regular Obamacare? They group them both together to artificially inflate the numbers to make it seem more people are actually buying health insurance.

Yep, with this there is now only two types of work in my city:
1. Part time minimum wage seasonal
2. temporary agencies that never get you hired in because the companies don't want to pay insurance
meanwhile, we still have no insurance from our employers + a big fine if we don't spend literally every dime we make on insurance.
thanks to obamacare I now have health insurance after 4 years due to it being too expensive
thanks obama
Stop complaining at ACA for hour cuts and hospitals not accepting it. Blame the companies cutting the hours(greed like no other) and (likely the companies backing the hospitals) the hospital management for being dumb.

Working for the government =/= needing qualifications.

You could do that, but it isn't practical. The public doesn't have a say in how private institutions are run.
We do, however, have a say in how our government operates.
