It looks cool, and hopefully in time it'll get better, but from my (admittedly limited) testing of it, it was a little on the boring side.

I'll just leave this here.
This reviewers fucking retarded. Half of his arguments against the game are about how elements of it would be game-breaking in an FPS. Well, it's a good thing it's not an FPS, now isn't it?
And,
"It's a lot like IWnet, for MW2."
Are you fucking kidding me?
"The servers only hold 80 players at once."
90% sure it's 100.
And beyond everything, this is clearly a vid of the Beta. It looks like he filmed it a while ago and only released it today since the Key to the City event was (supposed) to start today, and he could duck the NDA.
God damn, he just gets dumber and dumber.
"I can't get out of the car, because he has a full clip"
You would too if you were smart enough to reload before getting in the car.
"I can't do anything here, because getting out of the car is slow and I have the briefcase"
It's not slow, and even if it was, how about you just drive around the corner and get out, then drop the briefcase. Better yet, why didn't you just put the briefcase in the trunk of the car in the first place?
"And there he just blew my car up with about one clip"
Apparently he's vision impaired, because that was about a total of 2 and a half clips.
Figures, he bitches about getting backup that's somewhat far away but doesn't say a thing when they show up and help. And with the mowing down civilians thing, there is a downside to it, you lose Prestige. Not very much, but it used to be significantly more before everyone bitched about it. He's right with that "MMO aspect", it's incredibly easy to grief in this game.
"I'm just going to park my car on top of his objective item, and he won't be able to pick it up, and he'll lose the mission."
5 seconds later, the player picks it up and he doesn't say a thing :v:
The whole aspect he goes on about with the witnessing mechanic, where you can somewhat "force" another player into a match with you, is the chase mission he goes on about a short while later. So first he was bitching about how it's broken that he can so easily force and win a mission against another player, then he bitches about how broken it is when he simply loses the very mission he was just saying was too easy to win. He's also barely trying, he was clearly gaining on the van and had an opportunity to pit it but he didn't take it.
His biggest mistake was playing the game alone. Everyone knows playing any MMO alone is boring as hell, and that's especially true with APB.
Even if it still is a pretty shitty review, the game is boring as shit. All the missions are the same, ALL OF THEM. And the he's right about the matchmaking, it was horrid. Even in groups it was still really boring, even though that was the fun part of the game.
When they debuffed the sniper rifle I was using in the beta and wiped all accounts I got pissed, that was the only decent gun now it takes three/four shots to kill someone with it. All the low level guns are complete shite.
This game has so many flaws it's simply ridiculous.
Yeah, and with the broken matchmaking, it wasn't even fair for lower levels.
Oh and 100 people still isn't enough people for that fucking matchmaking system to work, most people just click no when called for backup, the servers need to be much larger, as the maps are really expansive yet completely empty.
Hey guys let's base our opinions of the final product based off a BETA.
Seriously, do you guys not understand what beta means?
I still think it's going to be shit with shitty guns for low levels.

Yeah put it in the boot of the car so it can get blown up, with him unable to get out with the briefcase.
"And there he just blew my car up with about one clip"
Apparently he's vision impaired, because that was about a total of 2 and a half clips.
About 2, maybe less. That's because he's using an upgraded smg, entirely embalancing the fights.
Figures, he bitches about getting backup that's somewhat far away but doesn't say a thing when they show up and help. Losing prestige in some cases can be a positive for enforcers. Staying below 5 is what you want to do. Yeah, he's right to bitch about backup because he's entirely outgunned, yet the game still takes fucking ages to find him backup. All the time he's losing lives.
"I'm just going to park my car on top of his objective item, and he won't be able to pick it up, and he'll lose the mission."
5 seconds later, the player picks it up and he doesn't say a thing :v:
Because the criminal then immediatly dies, the guy drives back over it and he's unable to pick it up, or did you miss that part.

Yeah, he forced the guy against him, then instantly killed him. Absolutely instantly. He instantly killed the guy through basically an underhanded tactic. But other fights he loses because the other people simply have better guns. Note how he also goes for the pit, but his car is actually forced into the air and slowed down because of terrible vehicle handling.
His biggest mistake was playing the game alone. Everyone knows playing any MMO alone is boring as hell, and that's especially true with APB.
Having played it myself with friends, these problems aren't solved. It's in fact worse. The more people you have, the more people that are deployed against you, and thus the worse the matchmaking becomes.

It's just like IWnet, in that it's absolute shit.
Yeah, alright, it is pretty shitty. I've played more than my fair share of 1v2's, 2v4's, etc, but IWnet? The fuck?
"The servers only hold 80 players at once."
90% sure it's 100.
That's 20 people, WOOAAAH
When we're talking about 100 player servers 20 is a pretty fair amount.
And beyond everything, this is clearly a vid of the Beta. It looks like he filmed it a while ago and only released it today since the Key to the City event was (supposed) to start today, and he could duck the NDA.

Except he has a better gun, and thus getting out in the open would have got him killed instantly.
Instantly? Nope. He could've always waited for her to empty her clip into the car and wait for her to start reloading then ditch the car and gain a couple seconds advantage. Or in his case, long enough to drop the briefcase and get a few shots in first.
"I can't do anything here, because getting out of the car is slow and I have the briefcase"
It's not slow, and even if it was, how about you just drive around the corner and get out, then drop the briefcase. Better yet, why didn't you just put the briefcase in the trunk of the car in the first place?
Yeah put it in the boot of the car so it can get blown up, with him unable to get out with the briefcase.
...Yeah, that's my point. If he gets out without the briefcase then he doesn't have to take the time to drop it, and he can return to teh car and pick it up later. And again, he still could've just driven around the corner instead of circling her like an idiot.
"And there he just blew my car up with about one clip"
Apparently he's vision impaired, because that was about a total of 2 and a half clips.
About 2, maybe less. That's because he's using an upgraded smg, entirely embalancing the fights.
Don't see a need to argue this one.
Figures, he bitches about getting backup that's somewhat far away but doesn't say a thing when they show up and help. And with the mowing down civilians thing, there is a downside to it, you lose Prestige. Not very much, but it used to be significantly more before everyone bitched about it. Not sure why you're talking about backup here, by MMO aspect I meant what he meant; that you can fuck around with random people.
He can still pick it up, and I bet the player did and he just cut it. The radius around an object you can pick it up in is larger than (at least most) cars.
The instant kill is indeed bullshit, but that's about the only bullshit part about it. As for the better guns... Not only are upgrades everything, RTW has already stated gun upgrades are getting a serious nerf in retail anyway. Like, more than halved in most cases. As for him going for the pit... I can't really tell if he's trying to pit him or the van is pushing him... But what I can say is the vehicle physics can be somewhat "different", but they're not all that bad. Definitely seen worse.
Usually not true. In a one on one it's very easy to get mismatched, but with a few friends it's much easier to become tactical and retain an advantage, even if you still get mismatched.
In a game that is meant to be a third person shooter while being a persistant world MMO, it fails at being a shooter, while not having the numbers to excel at being truly "massively multiplayer".
Can't really comment on that for sure, because both of those arguments rely heavily on what the game turns out to be like in retail. This is all beta shit he's commenting on, for all we know come release it could be an entirely different game.
[editline]10:13PM[/editline]
Damnit, why can't I edit that...
... Not only are upgrades not everything...

[editline]10:14PM[/editline]
Woah, never had this happen before lol
Like most Multiplayer games. You just kill the opposite team or capture the flag. APB is excatly like that but less players and objectives are very far(sometimes too close). Why I like it? I met good people and it's fun rolling with them.
I would never buy this gameor even play, if I never met them.

A work in progress, not the final product.
What about the BC2 beta? It was nearly identical to the final release whilst this will probably have to be redone to make it on par for an average game.
What about the BC2 beta? It was nearly identical to the final release whilst this will probably have to be redone to make it on par for an average game.
That was a beta from only a month before the game's release. The APB beta has been going on for like half a year or maybe more.
that was an old beta from 2009, a stable release..
that was an old beta from 2009, a stable release..
It was? The day I played the beta for BC2 everyone was recruit level. Plus the server browser didn't work and crashed the game.

And this game is slated for release in 3 weeks. Unless they completely revamp it before release as I stated before, it's gonna fail.

No, I meant the BC2 beta build was from 2009, it wasn't available to the public until a month before release of game
Hey guys let's base our opinions of the final product based off a BETA.
Seriously, do you guys not understand what beta means?
well beta is for testing purposes and getting bugs out of the game
and I also believe it is so players can test the game to see whether they like it, it's not like the final product is going to be 50% different, just bugfixes, community requests and probably more maps if possible
APB HAS an addicting factor that makes you keep playing but thats pretty much it. There is almost no content,
its even more repetitive than L4D, most of the vehicles handle AND look like shit, some weapons are extremely overpowered. It has potential but buying it at launch would be a stupid decision. When they have doubled the amount of content its actually worth to consider.
[editline]10:10AM[/editline]
most of the mission design is also really stupid. When you get apb'd an enforcer is sent after you, you can
either kill him three times or fill a "win-meter" by not commiting crimes and staying out of trouble. BUT If you run away and the time runs out before you can escape you LOSE the game. Even if you are 500km away from the enforcer and your main aim was to get away from him.
It's still a "Run around with an SMG and wait for the other person to drop dead" kind of game, so I won't be getting it unless I hear and overwhelming amount of people telling me it's excellent.
do you idiots really think that they will make a huge change in the final product, this beta what runs atm, this is what it will be,on the long run with patches they will improve this and that, but that's all, this game will be shoot em up nothing more, most interesting is the economy part.
If anyone can make anything, then how are those rtw points supposed to be gained through gameplay, etc you're in trade tab,you see some one sells some shit, you'll check the outcome and then,go and make it your self,no point in wasting rtw if everybody can make anything, atleast it's how devs said it works, the crafting.
I have hard time believing they'll fix the whole gameplay between two betas.
A work in progress, not the final product.
No, a beta means that core features and gameplay should be done.
A beta is for finding and removing bugs, nothing else.
If it has pending core features, it's not a beta.
