Say what you will of Wildstar (I personally like it a lot), they know how to make some damn good promotional material. [HD]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH-ln5SVy9Q[/HD]
I'd watch a movie of this.
The story got really disconnected for me because doing sidequests caused me to quickly outlevel the main quests and forced me to jump to the next area effectively skipping a chunk of content and having no idea what happened. Lost interest in playing after like level 25. The quest lines that you do play while at the correct level were actually pretty good, just wish that you didn't get forced to skip over main quests just because you wanted to do side quests. (And yes you can say: "well you could always stay there and keep doing them", but the main quests aren't enticing enough for me to do them for 0.1% exp on completion).
their website is blowing up. i can neither download the game nor login.
their website is blowing up. i can neither download the game nor login.
If you go to the homepage, you can bypass all the shittery with this little drop down menu at the top. It'll bring up the list of NCSoft games and then if you hover over WildStar it'll let you download the launcher from there.

Holy crap they absolutely nailed the artstyle in this video. It's a shame that the game doesn't look nearly as good. I'm not a fan of MMOs but I'll give it a try.
Well this is the first time I heard about this game, apparently it was a paid MMORPG that recently became Free to Play so I'll check it out. Haven't played an MMORPG in ages tho.

They're also rolling out lighting/skybox/general overhauls on the zones. So far they've gotten three of the starting zones done. Its a pretty great improvement.
is this video by the same people that did the Jinx video for league of legends? they both seem to have the same 2d/3d animation quirks
Wellp, once again it sold me with trailers alone, gonna give it another try Thanks to BeardyDuck for that link as well
Who are the animators behind this video? Their work is pretty damn good.
I loved that trailer's artstyle to bits.
Downloading this again. I played it at launch and thought it was really fun.
Interesting enough, we had 3 spambots on our teamspeak server posting a link to their website in the last week.
Kind of want to go back and play Wildstar now.
Damn, I should try it out. This trailer really pulled me in, gotta say.
Are the "main characters" the f2p players and the others in the saloon the premium ones
I heard the gameplay in this was really good but the quests are the worst. Is it true?
I heard the gameplay in this was really good but the quests are the worst. Is it true?
Nah, not really. They're just sorta generic for the most part.
loved their style, loved the game, but it just wasn't worth the subscription after the all the first-month-free-sub players vanished and the servers- which were numerous to hold the huge hype crowd -were all but deserted. Open world pvp amounted to seeing an enemy player walk through an area now and again, and you'd both /wave and go the other direction because you're just questing your way up and not in each other's way. some servers survived that outflux but there was too much purgatory before they implemented their megaserver system, and by then it was made PRETTY clear subscriptions weren't working out that well for my time. Glad to see this go f2p and I'll definitely return to see what's changed regarding the video though, last night I saw some people whining that this video made the dominion out to be the bad guys and were afraid it would cause more disparity in what new players select for their factions, or even not know dominion is a choice. What rock do you have to hide under to think this is the start of making dom out to be the bad guys? Even then, if a new player can't figure out they're a playable faction I'm not sure they're old enough to play the game From the devs' perspective for the trailer, if you want to illustrate the rough-and-tumble spaghetti western vibe of the game, what do you do? Saloon = granok, cowboys = exile human. Fill the party with other races to make the point they coexist, and to make the point about their styles as well. Bunny girl for cute factor, technozombie for edge factor. Where do you illustrate how cool and inviting the doms are? You've got your rich assholes, your meat-head warriors, emotionless robot assassins, and chaotic evil gerbils. They're all edge factor and none of the core flavor the game prides itself on. In the very least, they came into the video with style and power, and were highlighted in the end in the same way the exiles were, showing they're a solid opposition to the party we've followed for the video. The game's lore is the core problem if there's a player disparity, they've been painting it since day one that you choose that side if you want to be the stylishly oppressive bad guys
How long should I play it for (length wise or level wise) before I should ditch it due to beginners boredom?

Not to mention that the end-game is too niche for the more casual players.

Not to mention that the end-game is too niche for the more casual players.
yeah I remember, too much hype and they had to increase capacity at launch, then after that first month when people realized 'hardcore' was really hardcore and they weren't, it fizzled hard. Not so much WS's fault as it was the hype that increased the number of servers on hand, and they didn't want to pull a server merge at first because they were afraid it'd cause problems, particularly because they (stupidly) allowed players to have duplicate names from server to server. Not sure how the megaserver handled that but I'm hoping I still own the name 'dai'
Is this game worth a try?
i went to the website and your password needs at least one number or special character cannot be your email cannot have repeating numbers cannot have 4 or more repeating numbers must be 8-16 characters why do companies do this
this is AWESOME
i went to the website and your password needs at least one number or special character cannot be your email cannot have repeating numbers cannot have 4 or more repeating numbers must be 8-16 characters why do companies do this
that's just evil
Well, it looks like the servers are down because apparently no one can log in
I haven't played since a few months after launch, do they still have the awful region lock in place?
