The move by Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III to investigate Trump’s own conduct marks a major turning point in the nearly year-old FBI investigation, which until recently focused on Russian meddling during the presidential campaign and on whether there was any coordination between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. Investigators have also been looking for any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates, officials said.

Five people briefed on the requests, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, said Daniel Coats, the current director of national intelligence, Adm. Mike Rogers, head of the National Security Agency, and Rogers’ recently departed deputy, Richard Ledgett, agreed to be interviewed by Mueller’s investigators as early as this week. The investigation has been cloaked in secrecy and it’s unclear how many others have been questioned by the FBI.

The interviews suggest Mueller sees the attempted obstruction of justice question as more than just a “he said, he said” dispute between the president and the fired FBI director, an official said.
No shit. The guy brought it on himself with that tweet about the "tapes." Special counsels have a way of finding and pursuing prosecutable offenses far beyond the scope of their original assignment.
Give 'im hell, lads. That said, doubt much will come of it unless the Republicans get voted out in 2018.
Trump's much-sought-after public confirmation that he is not under investigation lasted one week
Man this Mueller guy sure is pesky. Trump should fire him!
Man this Mueller guy sure is pesky. Trump should fire him!
I am going to be genuinely surprised if he doesn't do it at some point
Give 'im hell, lads. That said, doubt much will come of it unless the Republicans get voted out in 2018.
It's likely, for the house. Presidential elections often precipitate a house flip to the opposite party of the elected, and democrats are currently polling higher on the generic ballot.
Man this Mueller guy sure is pesky. Trump should fire him!
part of me wouldn't be surprised if we hear this headline tomorrow. sure the white house says it won't happen, but the white housesays a lot of things trump ignores
part of me wouldn't be surprised if we hear this headline tomorrow. sure the white house says it won't happen, but the white housesays a lot of things trump ignores
I am positive that if trump fires mueller or vetoes the russian sanctions he will face massive bipartisan backlash; it would essentially doom him. These issues have been pushed to the edge, and congress/the senate has been forced to take immediate bipartisan action on them. It's a rare thing, that, and trump no longer has any breathing space on this issue as a result.
part of me wouldn't be surprised if we hear this headline tomorrow. sure the white house says it won't happen, but the white housesays a lot of things trump ignores
I genuinely hope that Trump is stupid enough to try so that the leaks increase in intensity and that the GOP is forced to decide to tie themselves further to Trump (hurting them in the long term) or finally do something about this otherwise.
Just in time for Trump to recreate Nixon's Saturday night massacre. It should be repeated though, that Trump can't fire Muller. He has to make the Attorney General do it, if I understand correctly.
Everything Trump does seems to just keep making it worse. Dude could've probably escaped the whole thing with nary a scratch if he didn't keep cocking things up. I wouldn't put it past him to do another dumb thing with regards to this particular portion of the saga, since hia aides clearly don't seem to have much leeway or influence with him.
I guess Muller is about to Corner Trump
This type of news makes my balls tingle. Get em Muller.
I guess Muller is about to Corner Trump
And with it, the pristine white facade will be compromised by a vibrant splash of fruit jam.

The top democrat on the intelligence committee said:
If President Trump fired Bob Mueller, Congress would immediately re-establish independent counsel and appoint Bob Mueller, Don't waste our time.
I feel like this information came out in response to talk about firing Mueller. It'll look even worse for Donnie if he fires Mueller now.

That is seriously grotesque. This is not how innocent people act. Why discredit an investigation if the investigation is just going to prove your innocence? You'd want to help it along as quickly as possible, not hide it. Edit: Assuming it is real, etc etc...
In case you guys missed my other thread, something else interesting came up: ----------- Mueller Seeks to Talk to Intelligence Officials, Hinting at Inquiry of Trump https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/14/us/politics/mueller-trump-special-counsel-investigation.html
WASHINGTON - The special counsel examining Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election has requested interviews with three high-ranking current or former intelligence officials in the latest indication that he will investigate whether President Trump obstructed justice, a person briefed on the investigation said on Wednesday. The special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, wants to question Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence; Adm. Michael S. Rogers, the head of the National Security Agency; and Richard Ledgett, the former N.S.A. deputy director. None of the men were involved with Mr. Trump’s campaign. But recent news media reports have raised questions about whether Mr. Trump requested their help in trying to get James B. Comey, then the F.B.I. director, to end an investigation into Mr. Trump’s former national security adviser. Last week, Mr. Coats and Admiral Rogers declined to answer questions before Congress about the matter. Mr. Mueller’s office has also asked the N.S.A. for any documents or notes related to the agency's interactions with the White House as part of the Russia investigation, according to an intelligence official.

A former senior official said Mr. Mueller’s investigation was looking at money laundering by Trump associates. The suspicion is that any cooperation with Russian officials would most likely have been done in exchange for some kind of financial payoff, and that there would have been an effort to hide the payoffs, most likely by routing them through offshore banking centers.

The top democrat on the intelligence committee said:
If President Trump fired Bob Mueller, Congress would immediately re-establish independent counsel and appoint Bob Mueller, Don't waste our time.

I kind of want to see this happen, just for the hell of it.

Okay, help me out here. There's no evidence the President did anything wrong. The FBI/etc. are leaking things to damage the President. (But I thought he did nothing wrong?) BUT HER EMAILS (sigh) Trump fired Comey because it was the right thing to do (that's new) Why is this not buried yet? (Just like how Benghazi and attempting to repeal Obamacare were handled quickly and only once, right?) But even if it is true, it means Trump didn't do anything wrong and Mueller's trying to find anything that'll stick. (But if this isn't true, then Trump MAY have done something wrong?) And then an amazing brick of logic that sums up to "we hate leaks that make us look bad, if there was a real case nothing would be leaking, leaks are real bad, even Obama says so. I can't even get to the second page. jfc if this is real I've found the real enemies of democracy. If they're so concerned they should let the investigation conclude, and when it concludes with no evidence and no effective charges, the Republicans can effectively discredit everyone who was pushing so hard for it, including Comey and Mueller, and Trump, Sessions, Flynn, and everyone else looks completely exonerated. But if they were confident about it they wouldn't be shitting themselves trying to get people to stop looking at Mueller investigating Trump for the obstruction of justice the President personally revealed by tweeting to Comey.
I now want to see a mass of Republicans mimic those papers words verbatim.
I'll bet money that despite the Grenfell Tower fire and the shooting of the minority whip this will come back as the 20 point font headline in three days, in the U.S. of obviously. All due respect, couldn't have picked a worse news cycle for this.
I guess Muller is about to Corner Trump
As it turns out, maybe you can stump the Trump.
I now want to see a mass of Republicans mimic those papers words verbatim.
Won't take long...
I now want to see a mass of Republicans mimic those papers words verbatim.
Trump just quoted it in his morning twitter ragestorm :goodjob:
As it turns out, maybe you can stump the Trump.
We don't want him stumped. We want him dumped.
I guess Muller is about to Corner Trump
There are no corners in the oval office, sir
