• Sensationalist or not: Scottish Referendum Video Provokes Claims From Cybernats That Vote Was Rigged
A video of a female vote counter appearing to place Yes votes in the No pile at a polling station has led to allegations by Scottish nationalists that the independence referendum was rigged. Supporters of Scottish independence on social media – dubbed ‘Cybernats’ – have claimed that the video, taken at a Dundee polling station, and an image of a Clackmannanshire counting table show evidence that there was foul play in the election process.
From the huffington post: http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/09/19/scottish-referendum-vote-rigged_n_5847854.html
What's in the red circles. I literally cannot tell.
the yes option was checked
What's in the red circles. I literally cannot tell.
Its where "Yes" is checked on those papers.
What's in the red circles. I literally cannot tell.
Ballots with the 'Yes' box ticked sat on the 'No' table. If hundreds of thousands of votes were really rigged like this, I'm sure there would be more substantial 'proof'
What's in the red circles. I literally cannot tell.
I think they're ballots signed 'Yes' [editline]19th September 2014[/editline] wow, ninja'd x 3
The video doesn't really prove anything. It's a short clip and doesn't provide much context as to what is going on. Remember that it is early in the morning - the counters are tired and will have been working for a long time. Some key observations: 1. The yes pile (from what I can see) only consists of two ballots that get moved to 'No'. 2. Prior to moving them, she places a 'No' vote in the 'Yes' pile. 3. She checks both of the two votes the were previously in the 'Yes' pile before she places them in the 'No' pile. So what do I take from that? If your going rig a vote, the way the woman did it is very awkward. You wouldn't move two to 'No' and one to 'Yes' if you wanted to influence the numbers - you would simply just place them all in the 'No' pile as you were going through them (and maybe put the odd one in the 'Yes' pile to make it look realistic. What is much more likely is that the woman got mixed up, realised she had briefly mixed up the two piles (this can happen when you are tired) and adjusted it as required - checking the two former 'Yes' votes in the process. This video is not proof - it is just speculation.
Butthurt scottish people try to prove a true democratic process wasn't true or democratic.
Some, not all of the people who voted yes seem to be not very good at taking a defeat. Now if it was the other way around and the yes camp actually won, then I reckon this may not even be happening. Anyway I thought the referendum was a close call.
You lost. Don't be sour grapes about it.
I think we should start asking about the UK's birth certificate
People always claim that the vote was rigged when their party or option doesn't win the vote.
I think we should start asking about the UK's birth certificate
United Kenyans!?
Why don't they use an automatic counting system like scantron? I mean, it has had years and years of testing in the education system (SAT, ACT, AP testing, etc. all use it), and it would take out all human error in counting. It's not like filling in a bubble is any more difficult to understand than putting an X in a box.
What's in the red circles. I literally cannot tell.
Needs more red circles and arrows.
