Skyfall director Sam Mendes is to direct the 24th James Bond film, due for release in 2015, it has been announced.
Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the British spy, with the script penned by Oscar winner, John Logan.
Mendes, who directed the recently-opened West End musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, said he was "very much looking forward to taking up the reigns again, and to working with Daniel Craig, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for a second time".
He added: "I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24."

Well he did a great job on Skyfall, though I still preferred Casino Royale.
Good news all around.
I thought skyfall was Daniel Craig's last film.
I remember people not liking him for being blond, but he's been great.

Eh I think they're two different types of movies. Skyfall was great at being a big dumb action movie and Casino Royale was Casino Royale.

Not sure what you're talking about. Skyfall is the most thematic Bond film easily.
I still think that the best part of Skyfall was the intro cinematic. Mostly the visuals. They were trippy as fuck.
Not to say that I think Skyfall was a bad film - but that intro was just fucking awesome. Can't find a good-quality full version on YouTube, because of copyright shit. But it gets the idea across - if you've seen the film, you know what I mean.

If you don't like Adele, then just fucking mute it, before anyone complains (like someone always does). I'm not talking about the music. Just the video.
yeah seriously that intro is chilling

I don't like Adele, but that song is fucking perfect for a Bond intro.
The best part of Skyfall for me is the cinematography. Beautiful and thoughtfully done. Roger Deakins has so many great films attached to him - Shawshank, Fargo, Lewbowski, No Country For Old Men etc
I might be a casual scrub but Skyfall is probably my favourite bond ever.
It had surprising amount of emotion.
You're not a casual scrub. Most critics called it the best Bond movie ever made.
I thought Skyfall was by far the best of the Craig bonds, very closely followed by Casino Royale.
Both were just a completely different, but fantastic movie experience, that it is hard to compare them.
If this next one is anything like Skyfall, I am sure it will be great.
i liked quantum of solace. skyfall was a big letdown for me
Skyfall was pretty amazing. I'm looking forward to see how Mendes will top that.
Quantum of solace was dreadful, I've watched it through multiple times and still have had no idea what the plot or story is. Shit happens, something about some ministry that sees everything, somehow it's to do with some oil baron and yeah something else.
Didn't engage me, and was boring and made no sense.
Skyfall on the other hand... Beautiful
As long as there isn't anymore family stuff then I'm all for it.
I've seen Casino Royale and Skyfall, but not Quantum of Solace. I liked both and I wouldn't be able to come to an easy judgement about which one is best.
Though to be honest it would probably go to Skyfall, its just such a classy movie, encompasses so many locations and keeps you gripped constantly.

its amazing what can be accomplished with dumptrucks full of money, still i much prefer daniel craig over the action bond of pierce brosman

i wish they would have had more about that mysterious organization quantum that was hinted at in the first and second movies though, still skyfall was a great final horah for judi dench she deserved it

I'm tempted to say Skyfall does a better job of being a stereotypical bond movie. Lots of action sequences, an interestingly strange villain, women. Casino Royale seemed a lot more tame in comparison when it came to action. It was a great film, but I think Skyfall outdid it in the areas Bond films are known for.

quantum of solace was a great movie, its just unlike earlier james bond films, the evil plot didn't come to light until very late in the film
tampering with nation's water supplies isnt something new to james bond, its just there was no evil randsom, no big face of the organization, just a bunch of rich dudes discussing how to fuck-up a country and bond stumbles into and breaks everything, not really that hard to get
Skyfall was a very clear throwback to classic Bond movies while still being the modern, more serious style that they've gone for with Daniel Craig.
Quantum of Solace is like, half an hour longer than it should be and just kinda throws multiple plots all together.
i really loved how Bond fucked up pretty much everything he did in Skyfall and he was generally less heroic. more of that please
I like that craig's movies are more realistic visions of bond, not so many toys.
However I really do miss the cars and their gadgets.. the "Vanish" was just fuckin' awesome in die another day.
I really prefer Casino Royale versus Skyfall. They took a different direction from the standard "Bond is a terminator and can do everything" but instead made Bond look vulnerable.
I liked Skyfall, but in my opinion, Casino Royale is just a better movie.
Skyfall was really good. That said, i want to see more gadgets.
I loved all the Craig movies, Casino Royale had the best intro IMO
That's excellent, but I was curious of Danny Boyle's vision.
When asked if he would direct Bond 24, he said: ‘No. I love the Bond movies, I love watching them and the last one was amazing.
‘And when I was a kid, when I was a teenager, I read those books cover to cover, multiple times.
‘So they’re really part of the fabric of my fabric but I’m not that kind of director. I love guys who can do those huge movies.’
