it sucks, i'd rather play games at 60 but when it comes down to it i can deal with a game that's locked at 30 as long as it's consistent, i don't mind.
The 30 fps is super consistent. Hopefully the patch is out soon but the games not ruined
"Nah they probably won't care." "Oh shit they do care" I mean, at least they're fixing it but come on it should be the friggin industry standard
other devs would have just left the game at 30fps and leave it to the community to do something, it's great that they're actually going to do something instead of saying fuck it
I'm hearing reports that the game's also got weird problems with resolution and keyboard controls. Like the fact that the game runs in 720p and upscales like the Xbox One version, unlike the Playstation 4 version which runs at 900p and upscales (although this really doesn't seem like a graphically-demanding game to require such resolution tomfoolery in the first place). This means that if you turn anti-aliasing off, the game still looks blurry while having jaggies. And apparently if you change button inputs and try to use them, they'll crash the game, but I dunno the consistency of that.
Anyone got any opinion on the game? Is it worth getting now or should I wait?
Anyone got any opinion on the game? Is it worth getting now or should I wait?
Definitely wait, I've played for ~45 minutes but won't play anymore until the patch has been released, if the issues have not been resolved then I'm getting a refund, as of right now it's a garbage console port with little to no love having been put into the PC version
You can tell how much love a PC port gets by it's anti-aliasing options. Do you get either High, Low, or Off, etc or do you get proper MSAA, FXAA, SMAA choices from none to 2x, 4x, 8x, etc

Rendering a game at a high resolution and downsampling it to your native resolution is by far the best image quality improvement that you can ever get in a video game, outside of texture filtering. Either native downsampling or built-in SSAA shows me that you care about me and the fact that my graphics card shits all over your game. That matters to me as a consumer. I didn't expect much out of Mafia 3 though, with what we got from 2. Not that 2 is at all a bad game, just not a well-done port. It is what it is. They don't make their main bread and butter on this platform, I guess. That's alright. I'm sure it'll probably still be a great game just like Mafia 2. So while SSAA and other graphics options are important to me as a consumer, they're not an absolute deal breaker.
boo fucking hoo. 30fps is easily playable. people are way too spoiled nowadays.
going from 144hz to 30 hz feels like shit, man.. Glad I refunded this, I love the Mafia series, but I'll wait and see about these patches before purchasing this again.
boo fucking hoo. 30fps is easily playable. people are way too spoiled nowadays.
60 fps is a widely accepted standard for PC gaming. I fail to see how asking for a game to meet this standard makes players "too spoiled".
boo fucking hoo. 30fps is easily playable. people are way too spoiled nowadays.
I happily played and still enjoy old n64 games, the ones like Majora's Mask where even a consistent 20fps is decent. I have no problems playing low FPS games. I honestly would prefer pretty 30fps over less pretty 60fps. However, that doesn't mean it should be limited to 30fps for those with powerful rigs that find this feature important. Limiting graphical options for PC players is uncool, because we have been used to these features for as long as PC gaming has been around.
boo fucking hoo. 30fps is easily playable. people are way too spoiled nowadays.
have you ever played at 144 fps? as in with a 144 hz monitor, and reaching consistent 144 fps? edit: actually, i take that back. it's clear you haven't. it's obvious you have no idea what you're talking about. you sound like the kind of person that would have said "boohoo, riding a horse and buggy is fast enough." get with the times.
boo fucking hoo. 30fps is easily playable. people are way too spoiled nowadays.
It's playable but if you're used to 60 fps it's hard to adapt to the change. It's so much slower. I've never tried 120 fps but I would imagine it's even worse.
Honestly, I've playing for a bit and haven't really noticed the fps changing much. At least the developers are trying to fix this and make the game better
other devs would have just left the game at 30fps and leave it to the community to do something, it's great that they're actually going to do something instead of saying fuck it
theres more issues with the game than framerate anyways so I mean... meh
theres more issues with the game than framerate anyways so I mean... meh
nah fuck it 60 frames per life for life
the point is there is not much reason to limit FPS on PC unless there is a very very good reason like in fighting games where players measure things in-game assuming 60fps. bringing up "but older generations played at 20fps and we didn't care" isn't a valid reason because right now computers have surpassed video game consoles in terms of graphical fidelity. grow up. We don't live in the 90s anymore, it's 2016 and 1080p60 should be the standard for PC gaming.
boo fucking hoo. 30fps is easily playable. people are way too spoiled nowadays.
Spoiled to have standards, I'm sorry you take the hot garbage devs try to give us
Spoiled to have standards, I'm sorry you take the hot garbage devs try to give us
Like fair enough to be upset but that's an exaggeration to say the least
Like fair enough to be upset but that's an exaggeration to say the least
honestly, have you ever played with a 144hz monitor? because hot garbage is exactly how i would describe 30 fps after having used a 144hz monitor for several years. i bet there would be outrage at a game locked to 720p, but for some reason it's not unacceptable to lock a game to 30 fps?
boo fucking hoo. 30fps is easily playable. people are way too spoiled nowadays.
Ubisoft is that you?
1080p60 should be the standard for PC gaming.
I thought that has been the standard since the Orange Box days? I feel that today is starting to shift towards the 1440p144 zone.
Like fair enough to be upset but that's an exaggeration to say the least
30fps isn't necessarily hot garbage but locking to 30fps certainly is.

I'm sitting in front of a big ass high resolution monitor here, 720p content looks like mud. Get the fuck out of here with anything less than native res + being able to downsample from a higher internal res for better quality.
boo fucking hoo. 30fps is easily playable. people are way too spoiled nowadays.
People like you are why shitty ports like this still exist 30fps is the ABSOLUTE bare minimum, if it was any lower the game would be unplayable, get some fucking standards
Yeah yeah 30 fps sucks dick and those options should've been included in the launch, but at least Hangar 13 are working on a patch for it
honestly, have you ever played with a 144hz monitor? because hot garbage is exactly how i would describe 30 fps after having used a 144hz monitor for several years. i bet there would be outrage at a game locked to 720p, but for some reason it's not unacceptable to lock a game to 30 fps?
No and again fair enough but it's exaggerated
I thought that has been the standard since the Orange Box days? I feel that today is starting to shift towards the 1440p144 zone.
apparently not because this thread even exists and there are people who think 30fps is acceptable for PC
