Samsung is streaming their reveal of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones. It's currently playing if you're interested in watching.
Holy fuck, that zero-bezel
It looks so beautiful and I'm going to be so terrified to hold this thing. :wideeye:
that speech about history was a huge let-down
it's just another smartphone, but with a fancier screen
ehhhhhhhhhhhhh
Personally not the biggest fan of those rounded screen corners.
The aspect ration it creates with that long screen is also a bit weird.
bigger screen means bigger battery consumption.
when are they going to announce actual better battery lifes for phones? I don't care for a big screen or a thin phone.

Just keep a charger next to your bed and put it on when you go to sleep. I've literally never had a problem with my battery running out with the S7.
Never had issues with S6 Edge concerning battery life, and I bought it at launch. Especially with fast charge. Heavy usage in the day can get me down to around 30%, but plugging it in for 30 mins whilst I'm in the library or in a lecture gets it back close to 100% in no time.
Only thing I'm concerned about is the curved edge display. I've had issues where I accidentally click shit, or have the screen not respond to my finger presses, because the way I hold it inadvertently makes me press it with my palm or other fingers.
Bixby is the response to Google Assistant I guess. Interesting to see how it compares in real life. Personal assistants are quite cool and interesting.

Hahahahaha, "Samsung has been committed to the Internet Of Things". Not something you wanna say out loud man...
Oh my, the example with the position sharing with Bixby.
Yes, let me press a button, talk to my phone, just so it can take a screenshot of my screen and send it.
Or you could just share the position directly with the Google Maps app you had open... (faster and not wasting data with a screenshot.)
Taking the screenshot manually and share it to the person you want is probably faster as well since you dont have to battle with your voice recognition.
And why can't you just tell Bixby "Share my location with Cindy" ? Why do I need open Google Maps first.
They just showed how to take a screenshot via voice.
I really dislike all those voice helpers, be it Siri, Google Now or this Bixby.
"And I make great Kung Pow chicken by the way"
Man, I wish these presentations didn't invoke the cringe every time.

No, dude, that's the best part.

Oh damn, motion controllers for Gear VR. Now it just needs positional tracking!
Still no stereo speakers?
YOU GET A GEAR 360, YOU GET A GEAR 360 - EVERYBODY GETS A GEAR 360!
Hopefully one can disable that face recognition ability, and hopefully the S8 Active is just as tanky as the S5 Active.
SENDING EMAILS IS AS EASY AS CLICKING AND DRAGGING
Samsung Dex looks useful as hell, to be honest.
Samsung Dex is the future of computing.

Or atleast it'll streamline it into workstation, laptop and phone. i.e. cutting down the middle man of netbooks and tablets.
I don't see tower workstations and/or laptops going away anytime soon.
The Dex presentation was super cringy, look windows and drag and drop!
It really looks neat though, having apps in windows.
I think I remember Android N had something like that hidden or so.
What the fuck is going on
A "hands-on" video from Android Authority.

any talks about battery and how they are making it explosion proof?
Phone looks great but it definitely won't be a day 1 buy for myself and I'm sure many others until this worry is completely gone.

People said exact same thing about Windows Continuum and it tanked. Same goes to that motorola technology which provided (ubuntu?) desktop when you connected the phone to their dock.
so i just tuned in and its a ostrich flying followed by "this is the end of the stream"
pretty good live conference
At least it has a headphone jack #courage
I really wish hardware home keys would stick around and the option for a non-rounded edge would be available.
I want a phone that actually can take a beating, not some pussyfoot glasstank.
Really gonna miss the physical home button, especially when the Note 8 comes around. If they're making the S8 + 6.2", the Note 8 will probably be the same size - having the unwieldy fingerprint reader is gonna suck.
I really like the screen. my s6 edge recently started messing up and was planning on switching to pixel xl but not sure now.
Though project fi is still enticing

I didn't know either of those existed. So there's that.
