Darwin the 'Ikea monkey' will no longer be hitting the superstores with a Canadian woman who calls him her son after a judge in Ontario ruled that the primate is not a pet and should remain at an animal sanctuary.

And yet in Japan a guy has managed to get his monkey to do work as a waiter with no problems.
I think this is relevant.

Well, monkey + hat = funny, so I guess it would work...
The initial court hearings were around Christmas last year. I remember reading interviews with the woman saying she had made a whole wardrobe of clothing for the monkey including a little elf and Santa costume.
Not only is it extremely illegal in Canada, but it's also not a child. It's a monkey.
Yeah, but dude. It's a fucking monkey wearing a pimping coat!
This guy and him should have a TV show togeather

It's truly a sad day for us all
He's too cool for a sanctuary.

He'll get all the chicks with his fashion, though.
I'm imagining a monkey Fonzie here.
Every time this monkey is mentioned I can't stop thinking of Marcel the monkey from Friends

A well trained monkey can make an excellent pet, although in most countries, it's only legal to own one of the Capuchin variety.
Chimps, on the other hand....

If you are in a domestic situation where a chimp is not going to rip your arms off, you should be treating that sucker like a roommate.
I'm pretty sure alot of wild animals can be domesticated if started at an early age.

From what I understand, monkeys need constant supervision like human babies, and once they hit puberty, they can become very unpredictable.

Like I said, well-trained. Capuchins tend to be fairly docile. The rest will fling shit and masturbate with wild abandon.
and masturbate with wild abandon.
So they're like most human teenagers? :V

Yes.

Except they're smarter then teenagers.

Some animals just don't age well as pets. You can keep gators and caimans at home when they are small and they'll be really docile but as soon as they reach a certain age they'll just start becoming aggressive regardless of how young you got them. Same for most felines, they'll be attached to you but generally speaking they don't make good pets because they'll just fuck you up if you do one mistake.

That explains who most SH'ers are!
That monkey is probably gonna have a hard time adjusting to a world where he has to eat fruits and vegetables instead of IKEA meatballs
