The authorities announced their intention to prosecute the boy, who was not identified, nearly a month after the death of 1-year-old Kelci Lewis. The child was found unresponsive on Oct. 11, and a police spokesman said Tuesday that investigators believed the older boy had become violent because the toddler would not stop crying.
Uhhh
Well at least this is happening.
the girl’s mother surrendered to the authorities and was charged with manslaughter.

Lieutenant Edwards said officials thought that the charge against Ms. Lewis might signal to other parents that they could be prosecuted in similar cases. “Most mothers that I know would have never done something like this,” Lieutenant Edwards said, “but it definitely sends the message that this type of behavior, this type of irresponsibility on behalf of a parent is totally unacceptable.”
The joys of teenage pregnacy.
Well at least this is happening.
I guess, but why charge an 8 year old?
I guess, but why charge an 8 year old?
Dunno. He needs help though, badly.
Dunno. He needs help though, badly.
Not in the penal system though.
Not in the penal system though.
Oh I completely agree. I just feel for the kid as he grows up and is able to truly comprehend what he did.
Not in the penal system though.
Seriously doubt he'll get convicted criminally. However, the government needs some kind of court order to commit a kid to an institution, so they're charging him first
I live in Huntsville (about 90 minutes north) and I haven't heard of this happening. The fuck
Not in the penal system though.
He'll be put in a mental institution of some sort, and this (probably) won't be on his record after he turns 18, at least not a criminal record. Do you think he's going to child prison or something?
i read the article but i can't find the mother's age anyone know?
Que the posts about how he somehow was completely not responsible for his own actions at all
Oh I completely agree. I just feel for the kid as he grows up and is able to truly comprehend what he did.
doubt he'd ever comprehend children generally know when they've done something wrong at this age, and in this case there's not a screw loose but a screw missing
doubt he'd ever comprehend children generally know when they've done something wrong at this age, and in this case there's not a screw loose but a screw missing
I really disagree. I worked in early childhood development and board of DD for 4 years and even at age 8 there's often a lot of disconnect and learning to do for cause and effect.
