CLEVELAND — A top donor raising money for Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee says he has resigned in disgust after the party muscled through a vote on the convention floor that squashed the “Free the Delegates” movement.

“I was on the Trump finance committee and I just resigned because that bully tactic is absurd,” Emineth said. “I just texted them right now. Why can’t the people be heard? I’ve been texting Reince for 10 minutes. He said we didn’t have the votes. We had 10, 11 states. They peeled people back. They were calling delegations asking people to step off the committee. You don’t do this in America. You do this in other countries.”
The amount of dysfunction at the convention is incredible. Over the radio, it sounded like a straight riot. Screaming, shouting, stomping. I have never seen a party so divided.
Oh yes that was beautiful on stream.
"all those in favor say aye"
"AYE"
"all those against say nayTHE AYES WIN" *smacks hammer repeatedly*
It was glorious
The horrible music is just icing on the cake
I don't see how that Aye and Nay system is in any way shape or form democratic. The comittee member will just hit the gavel for aye if it suits him or nay if it doesn't suit him.
You have to understand that for just about every Republican convention in history, the whole process of voting for the rules has been more or less a formality. It gets rushed along because everybody knows that nothing will change in the party once they have a presumptive nominee. You would not see this kind of display with any other candidate.
Then after this it was pretty much the rest of the convention spent appealing to unity.
Yea this is total bullshit and you conveniently left out this part from your source
But the RNC says they only turned in enough signatures for nine, and that delegates from three states rescinded their signatures, moving them below the seven-state threshold.
Well it's pretty obvious they want to make sure that Trump doesn't happen again. Next goal for the Republicans is to get a Superdelegate system like the Democrats so they can eliminate anyone who isnt endorsed by the party.

Thats not what they want. They want closed primaries so that only registered Republicans can vote.
This event showing how un-unified the GOP is has sealed trumps chances at the general in my opinion.
With his appeal to the younger members and the alt right he had his chance. Lets see if that silent majority is big enough
I'm seriously happy about how things are going at the RNC. Everyone can see it. The party is in its death throes. Whatever the Republican party once was, a cancer has all but killed them now, taken away absolutely every tiny shred of value they had to offer the American people, and they'll never come back from it. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I only hope whatever rises from the ashes isn't worse.

A closed primary would definitely set a stop for Trump and other non established republicans, though.

Ok.

Hooray for a neoliberal single party state!
Right???

lol, you need to wake up from whatever dream you're in. A handful of assmad Cruz minions trying to undermine democracy(and failing spectacularly every single time) doesn't mean shit.

Yea, the outcome is virtually the same

That was actually how elections were done before the secret ballot was invented, and it's still what Westminster parliaments do on most votes in the parliament (but to be fair, all it takes is one MP to shout out 'division!' and they'll organise a proper vote count).
I only hope whatever rises from the ashes isn't worse.
Hope you like Libertarians.

"Let's make the system more democratic by making it more draconian!"
Hope you like Libertarians.
I'll take anything as long as the tea party dies
"Let's make the system more democratic by making it more draconian!"
Yup. That's why these tea party Cruz assholes need to get the fuck out of the party

The Republican Party isn't going anywhere and there isn't anything to replace it. Libertarianism is nowhere near similar enough to become an obvious choice and other parties are even smaller and further right. If the GOP dies, I assume the Democratic Party will swing right to pick up the conservative vote, but then there's a new problem. There would be nobody to challenge the Democratic Party. Sure the Greens / Libertarians would get a boost, but it wouldn't be enough to overcome the lone Democratic Party.

If the Republican Party somehow died, either a new party will take its place (and no, not the Libertarian Party) or if the Democrats take their place, they would very likely split into Progressive Democrat and Conservative Democrat parties. A party disbanding doesn't meant the ideology behind it, and all of its supporters, would die too.

Meanwhile, all the high-ranking Republicans are insisting that their party is completely united under Trump, and any suggestions otherwise are totally wrong.
I really want the Tea Party to fuckin die (and then maybe, just maybe the GOP can start being a little less insane and devoted to deadlocking the political process rather than compromise on anything - a man can dream, right?) but I can't see them just going away when the recent years have given us all this juicy fear to whip up.

did you expect any different?

The Republican Party is fucking imploding.
Lol the establishments final gasp of air. Trump is the grassroots candidate who the people want. The republican elites my be divided but not the people. Trump will win in a landslide. Americans want jobs. Trumps stand on immigration will help black people get back into the workforce. Illegals take jobs from the unskilled labor force. Clinton is a globalist who cares about corporations and not americans. Trump is opposed to shipping jobs overseas. I can't wait for November.

I'm pretty sure a lot of tea party people are libertarians lol, or are at least close to being them any way.
