Martin Shkreli, founder of Turing Pharmaceuticals, has resigned as chief executive of the embattled company, effective immediately. The chairman of Turing’s board of directors, Ron Tilles, has been appointed interim CEO, the company announced.
The news comes a day after Shkreli, 32, was arrested by the FBI on securities fraud charges. A seven-count indictment, unsealed Thursday, laid out how Shkreli allegedly set up a Ponzi-like scheme, swindled his former pharmaceutical company, Retrophin, out of more than $11 million, and repeatedly defrauded and lied to investors of two hedge funds he managed.
Shkreli was arraigned in a Brooklyn court yesterday. He pleaded not guilty and was released on a $5 million bond.
As CEO of Turing, Shkreli gained notoriety by raising the price of Daraprim by more than 5,000 percent. The decades-old drug is used to treat a parasitic infection and is often given to AIDS patients and babies.
Shkreli will appear again in court on January 20.
get fucked
Hope he has a wonderful Xmas, and may all the batteries in his gifts be duds
Awesome.
Not such a smarmy, cocky little shit now are you?
Rekted
Wow he stepped down himself. I would of thought the board would of had to considering how he acts.
I can't tell you how much I'd laugh if the new CEO raised it from $750 to $1,350.

He probably gets a severance package this way, whereas being forcefully removed wouldn't give him one.
This will make a lot of people believe in karma
It's so perfect, fuck

I wouldn't consider this karma (in the popular sense); all this shit is happening as a direct result of his actions.
I'm just glad this smarmy little man child is finally getting what he deserves.
I kept thinking he was going to eventually reveal his entire assholishness as an act to show how bad Pharmaceutical companies can get in this country, but I guess he was the real deal. Glad he won't be making decisions again ever.

Why not explosives?
Wow. My Christmas wish came true.
This is the best christmas since the soviet union fell
Get dunked on Shkreli :cat:
This is real art.
You know guys, despite this he's still rich so... I don't think it's that much of a "big thing" really, especially for him.
It's more a small victory than anything else.

Not sure how much his riches can help him in prison.
This is real art.
Every time I read the word "art" I think of what this stupid shithead said and his ugly ratfuck face.
I just imagine him saying, "like, that's art really..." in the annoying "I just got my braces bent for being an annoying smart ass" voice I've given him in my imagination and it tickles me to death.
I have a feeling this is going to be one of those people that passes away in a ditch somewhere, unloved and alone, due to drinking himself into a fatal coma or something - despite being filthy rich.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaand I can't say I really care, honestly.
he pays himself free. But still cannot be free
God damn it I just want to punch him every time I see a picture of him. Actually, no, I want to take that guy who owns that fucking candy crush game or whatever bullshit it is, the one that looks like his breath smells like penis and dogfood, and just bonk their heads together Three Stooges style.

They forgot to add that his attorney raised his normal rate from something like 1200 bucks and hour to like $60,000 an hour.
And gave no shits about it.
Totally deserved, in every respect.

I think that was satire. Although there isn't enough karma on this planet that would be as deserving as that.
I don't think it's in the lawyer's best interest to screw his client.
Its such a beautiful Pre-Christmas miracle its almost poetic.
Hopefully with a new person on deck, they will revert these horrible changes.

Heh, just looked it up. It was, via The New Yorker.
No idea how I missed that.
At least the comedy is good:
“Compared to what he pays for an hour of Wu-Tang Clan, sixty thou is a bargain,” - The Lawyer
