Did anybody watch this? One of the finest cartoons ever made IMO. It originally ran from 1997 to 1999 on HBO(late night, midnight if I'm not mistaken), it had just 3 seasons, six episodes per season, but it was awesome. If I'm not mistaken, a season 4 is in the making(or another version of the animated series, I'm not sure if it's season 4). It's based on the comic book, but the story has been changed a bit(a lot, actually, probably because it would take too long to explain everything, and because some parts of the comic were too gruesome for a cartoon). It follows Al Simmons a.k.a. Spawn(or Hellspawn, or Hell's Pawn), a big bad black-ops operative who gets killed, and is condemned to burn in hell forever. He makes a deal with a devil, Malebolgia, and sells his soul to him for a chance to see his wife, Wanda, one last time. Then he becomes the Hellspawn, and is sent to Earth just to kill people(bad people) and send their souls to Hell to keep the wheels turning. Of course, he is reluctant to do so, and that's where things get interesting. That's just the plot, there's lots of stuff going on, and it's a really great cartoon, in some ways even better than the comic book. I know it originally ran from 1997 to 1999, but I would be surprised if there weren't any reruns, and the complete collection is available on DVD. So yeah, did anybody watch this and what are your thoughts on it?
