that wasn't very appealing, admittedly the only Halo game I owned was Combat Evolved so whatever background story being shown here isn't going to get noticed by me.
looks fucking dumb
Came off as a trailer done by a company that wasnt an original company of the series that didnt even make it even halfway decent. Cant wait for Halo 5: No Split screen because we gay.
I fucking hate every goddamn videogame made nowdays " no we don't need splitscreen. only 1 player online" wow thats fukcing retarded literally fucking all of them fucking nerd fucks the fucking epitome of games is splitscreen and playing with people right there but NONE UNDERSTNANDS THAT all anyone cares about is $$$$$$$$$$$

literally evryone if you have friends or brothers i think ive spent like 100 hours halo 3 splitscreen in middle school and is among the fondest memories i have
literally evryone if you have friends
if i have friends over they bring their consoles/pc's with them because splitscreen is annoying. or you know, we use online in case we cant hang out.
Look at halo 3's marketing, which is frankly the best video game ad campaign ever, and then this. Granted the bar was set pretty absurdly high, but all this really has is "motion picture quality ad" going for it, which I'm sure we're going to see from Activision and EA pretty soon anyway.
i dont know what 32:5 is but ok i miss old, low key halo games to the core, and i realize theyll never be like that again which makes me kinda sad. ODST was delish that part when you step out of the crashed pod in halo 1 was incredible
yeah but who actually likes splitscreen
And here I thought one of the main appeals of consoles was that the majority of games on them supported splitscreen so you could sit on the couch with your buddies and play together.
The issue is that 343 has "call of duty" syndrome IMO. No I don't mean that their games are copies of each other, rather they're looking at this series and are saying "man we have big shoes to fill so WE GOTTA GO BIGGGGGG!" They are trying to create that feeling of an epic that the originals had, but they think "man how can we top that?? The ARK collapsing was so bad ass and we can't disappoint people!" So they go more and more grandiose not realizing that the charm of these games were in their simplicity and gameplay. I am sure if you found some friends you could go jump into HALO CE and play for a good couple of hours easily. Now these days you have perks and special abilities and weapon customizing and a cigarette lighter with a built in beer dispenser in your helmet. They were focused on adding more shit to the pile that they ended up burying the core. Seriously, look at the opening cinematic, motherfuckers practically free fall through exploding ships and then surf down a fucking mountain doing karate backflips. I loved chief because while he was fucking powerful, he had obvious limitations and still kind of tethered somewhat to reality in the way he handled situations. Hell cortana even said the reason he had lasted so long a lot of the time was luck, then we see these fucks in full heavy ceramic armor doing cartwheels while firing their gun one handed. They jumped the gun way too hard.
I've grown to absolutely despise these kind of ads. They communicate fuck all about the actual game, oh sure the CGI is sick looking, loads of talent there- nothing wrong- it just tells us NOTHING about the game. Look at the Elder Scrolls Online cinematics/launch trailer bullshit and then look at the final game. It was a load of shit.

That trailer just didn't sound well written at all. I was so close to cringing.
something about master chief getting stuck under a rock looks really stupid and hilarious
if i have friends over they bring their consoles/pc's with them because splitscreen is annoying. or you know, we use online in case we cant hang out.
That's just you, and that's not the reason why there's no split screen in games anymore. It's because they want to sell more copies. Split screen isn't annoying, it's great. I don't know you but I already dislike you. [editline]3rd October 2015[/editline] Regarding the trailer, I thought the live action people (wearing 2015 fashion clothing, which is dumb in itself) looked really out of place in the CGI animation.
something about master chief getting stuck under a rock looks really stupid and hilarious
In halo 3 he fell from space through the atmosphere holding on to a metal plate, impacted earth fast enough to leave a crater and he got back up un fucking scathed after taking a nap How the shit does a piece of concrete stop a tank flipping super powered armored human
Why did they make the new Spartans look so weird and bug like?
Why did they make the new Spartans look so weird and bug like?
They caught the greeble disease

Even the blue team video looks over the top and cinematic compared to Halo 3's "epic" feeling trailer: I don't even own an Xbox anymore, I just don't like where I see Halo going.
So, why are we fighting against the Covenant again? After Halo 3 the humans and elites have a truce. I can accept that Halo 4 had Covenant left overs who refused to give up, but really? We're still fighting these guys? It would make much more sense for us to be fighting the brutes and have missions where the elites are our allies against them. Maybe show the consequences of what happened in Halo 2 and 3 on the civilisations of the galaxy, rather than constantly trying to one up themselves by unearthing even more powerful ancient evils that threaten to destroy the galaxy (again).

The Arbiter is basically about to destroy their final stronghold, which was seen in the E3 gameplay.

It was a load of shit.
I think there's a time and a place for cinematic bullshit trailers and this is one of those cases where it's fine. When your trailer is focused on making your game look super cool or show off "gameplay", then yeah I hate when they do that. An example of that would be the infamous Elite Dangerous Launch Trailer which was showing off the "gameplay" but was so far removed from how the game really looks and plays that it's completely worthless. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwvjElmFCfE] Cinematic bullshit trailers work for me when they're about the story of a game or setting up its universe. Stuff like this crazy thing that they did a while ago are all about setting up the story. For those that are interested and invested in the story, it gives you a teaser about what's happening and gets you excited to find out. I didn't give a shit about Halo 5 until this trailer. It got me really curious what direction they were going to take the story. For a non-Halo example of a cinematic bullshit trailer that's still an incredible trailer because of how effectively it sets up its universe and story, and one of my favorite video game trailers of all time, there's the Human Revolution trailer. Halo 4 even had some good cinematics, the UNSC Infinity reveal was quite good: It's a shooter game, you should be showing the badessness with gameplay, not movies.
Im debating whether or not I should go full whiteknight here or not. Judging a game you clearly know nothing about from a CGI trailer thats actually part of a much bigger marketing campaign is pretty dumb, so it might be a waste of time. Don't misunderstand I wanna jump on the 343 hate bandwagon too, but for the love of god don't judge the game before it even comes out. We literally know jackshit about Chiefs entire side of the story, once you know that then feel free.

I don't even know where this series is going at this point. Halo was finished after 3 as far as I'm concerned.
