• Having trouble finding band members

A couple weeks ago I started a band with my two friends, one is the rhythm guitarist, the other the drummer(probably not for long) I was talking to my drummer about where we could practice, he said he couldn't do it at his house because he doesn't have a drumset... At which point I asked him how he considered himself a drummer without a set, he said he knew how to play drums because the school had a set he practiced on, so I told him he should buy a drumset with the money he has. And he had none, he doesn't even have a job, I have two, so I offered to buy him a set, but first I asked him if it would just collect dust in his room and he said probably, at this point I wanted to just kick him out, but I've known him too long to just kick him out, I asked my other friend if he knew anyone who was a drummer, he said he knew someone that he was good friends with, and this kid had a PA system, two drumsets, and about three mic's, he sounded promising, and he said he was up for it, and as I was about to tell my drummer that if he didn't get serious about this he was out, the other drummer backed out because he changed his mind, and here I am trying to decide what to do
Misleading thread tittle in a way... I dont want to be a dick about this, but well, you guys don't have a place to practice, no drumset, no equipment... well dosen't sound like you guys are that much of a band right now. If I were you... I would go with your friend's friend, he has the place and equipment to top it all. If he does not go for it, well, at least look for another drummer, the guy you have right now sounds like a douchebag. "I'm a drummer... I play on the school's set"
That was an extremely challenging read. Kick out your current "drummer".
sorry for the hard read, I was rushing on my ipod because it was dying, and I do have equipment, my rhythm guitarist has all the equipment he needs, the drummer is the problem, he is very irresponsible, and yeah he's a douche-bag, but the rhythm guitarist is fine, he's on the same exact page that I am, he wants the drummer out, and him and I would both do this for the rest of our lives if we could, but we're not so sure about the drummer.
I think drummer's are always unreliable, you've just got to learn to keep up with it. But yeah, if you're serious about it you'll need somewhere decent to practice.
and an actual drumset, or a drummer with a drumset, I do have a person thats not technically in the band but he's amazing at drums and he has an awesome place we could practice, he just hasn't made up his mind about whether he wants to be in the band full time, and he also plays guitar, and the saxophone, in fact he plays just about anything you can make a sound with, but anyway I'm considering him

I am literally better than every other band member at every other instrument, because they are not good. The only exception is that I do not have as nice of a voice as our singer. But. I am a better, he can't stay in tune and doesn't know how to space is breathing properly, etc Guitar, bass, and drums, though, I have it hands down. I joined as a favor to them because they asked me, and now I have to do everything basically. I even record most of the parts because they can't play them properly or they'll forget capos (I don't use one so no tengo) and I'll have to write out something else because they're too lazy to go get them. It is a sad thing. But at least I am not unreliable, I think. tl;dr: biscuit fancies himself jack of all trades, is a rather reliable drummer, and doesn't afraid of anything
bicsuit u r my hero :h: kick the drummer out already
bicsuit u r my hero :h: kick the drummer out already
p. much this drummer sounds like a dick
yup Im gonna go with kicking the drummer out
What self-respecting drummer hasn't got his own drumset? Kick'im. Edit: You biscuit, join us at the drumming thread in Music discussion. It's dangerously low on posts. http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1092926-Drum-Discussion-Thread-v2-rlrrlrll

I had basically the same situation, I ended up writing everything, even the lyrics, and I was only the guitarist. We were sorta bound to disband eventually, and I am glad that happened. My point is - I feel your pain, kind of know what You're going through. My suggestion is You blow those lazy gooses off and seek for more skill and goal appropriate bandmates. The best of luck to You. :)
Is there a music school or drum store nearby? If so try putting up fliers around those kinds of places. Well that solves the problem in the title anyway.
Yes putting up fliers is a good idea, get involved in the local music business too, become friends with the members of various bands. Not only might they help you find people who want to start bands, you'll also get a following much quicker and you can grow faster. Getting involved in the local music scene is the best thing you can do, since you'll soon be part of it when you get the bandmembers. =)

Well that solves the problem in the title anyway.
there is an all around music shop about a half-our away from me, maybe I'll put some fliers up there, also I'm friends with some people in bands on facebook, I've never met them in real life, but I could possibly talk to them, and my aunt is in a band (I know that sounds funny) but she knows a shit-load of musicians, and she has a decent amount of fans in both the USA and england too, so she could help me out with this.
Meeting people at other band's gigs is also another way to meet people who like the same genres as you.
