Connect your Steam account and grow or jumpstart your GOG.com library.
Today, we're launching a new program called GOG Connect. The premise is simple: connect your Steam account and add your eligible games to your GOG.com library.
Whether you're checking us out for the first time or have been with us for a while, GOG Connect gets you DRM-free versions of your games, digital extras, and a whole lot of freedom of choice (like whether you go with the GOG Galaxy client or not). It gets you our take on game ownership, and we say: why buy the games more than once?
Thanks to our awesome partners including Deep Silver, Harebrained Schemes, Jonathan Blow's Number None, TaleWorlds and more, you can now add more than 20 games to your GOG.com library if you previously purchased them on Steam.
While GOG Connect will stick around, the available games will come and go. These are limited-time offers made possible by participating developers and publishers, so stay tuned as we bring new titles onboard in the future (and grab your copies before they go away)!

oh man.
Fuckin ace. I regretted buying some games on Steam because GOG comes with lots of goodies and stuff, and DRM free.
Though I worry that this might wind up shooting themselves in the foot a bit; I find myself sometimes torn between Steam and GOG because I want the convenience of Steam but the goodies and (lack of) DRM from GOG. For games that are eligible the choice is kinda already made for me.
They say that if you refund a Steam game they can delete the game from your GOG account. But what if I already downloaded the game to my PC form GOG and then refunded it ? If I were them I would only add Steam games to GOG that you are not able to refund anymore.
What's the list of games? I can't get on GOG from this network.

The Witness
FTL: Faster Than Light
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut
Galactic Civilizations 3
Trine Enchanted Edition
Saints Row 2
Shadowrun Returns
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
There's more than that tho
Fucking sweet. Thank you, CD Projekt, you guys are the best.

then you're basically pirating the game, which would be a lot less difficult, so why do this?

If you're intending on pirating a game by buying it on Steam, transferring to GOG, then refunding through Steam, maybe you should just pirate the game. This is the downside to DRM-free services, but GOG definitely understands the implications.
There's also no way to know if you'd be allowed to refund a game or not. The few limits they do set are not strict.

Well, it is safer, you know you wont get a virus or something.
Oh boy, this is gonna be great. Ever since they let you add boxed versions of the Stalker games to your account, i've been anxious for this day.
Sounds like a good idea to me, though I'm going to be more inclined to buy from Steam now rather than GoG for games on both platforms.
FYI, only one Steam account could be tied to your GOG account and it is permanent.
So if you have multiple Steam accounts and family members who use a single GOG account, choose wisely.
Won't link up for some reason.
interesting concept but i don't see how this benefits GoG at all, now games that are on both systems there's no reason to buy them from GoG if you can get both with this system

I can't get it working either. Probably overloaded for the time being. Imma wait a few hours and try again.

Expect a wait :suicide:

Gah, didnt mean to be the 2nd to post that.
Anyone know if you need a public profile for them to be able to figure out your owned games?

Pretty sure you don't. That's the purpose of logging in, to get direct access.

There's already limits to how many games you can refund in a timespan anyways so while it's possible it's very unlikely

You do
Won't this make people buy on steam instead on gog. Because if they buy it on gog then they won't have it on steam.

Not all games will be on GoG, and not all games will be on Steam.
Not everyone owns a steam account either.
I think their hope here is to bring in more traffic by Steam users looking for DRM free copies, and people who do come buy some of the store's exclusive offerings, like a taste test really. I think it's definitely neat but like I said earlier I'm probably going to go to Steam instead of GoG for titles on both platforms if at some point I can get a GoG copy for free.
This is awesome. I'm hoping KotOR 1 gets added to this list more than anything else. I bought the Steam version, only to find out after I got my widescreen monitor that the widescreen patch barely, if at all, works with the Steam version, you have to get the GoG one.
Why care so much about DRM anyway? Steam is not invasive at all; DRMs like Uplay or Rockstar Social Club are, but not Steam.

I would describe Steam as being invasive, more so than any other DRM I've seen. You have to run a program to play any of your games, and that kills it for me right there. Not to mention many games will demand you have a steam account to play the game even if you bought the physical copy. the Rockstar Social Club and Uplay might suck ass, but at least if I buy a copy of a game ubisoft didn't even make, I don't have to deal with Uplay. That's not the case with Steam and Valve.
[editline]e[/editline]
Ideally, they should all function like GoG does. No DRM shit, an optional program, and the ability to just launch the exe on my desktop just like a normal game would be launched a decade ago.
I'm very happy to hear of this initiative. I like using Steam, but don't like that I don't really own games I buy. GoG games are DRM free, so they're totally different.

Plus the offline mode is always fucking up for me and not letting me play certain games that are 100% up to date fully ready to play.
I don't have many technical issues with Steam but I love having the GOG versions over Steam versions as of late.
