Sort of hard to believe that David Lynch wrote and directed it. I heard the 2000 miniseries of Dune is a lot better.
All I know is Dune is infamous for being difficult to commit to film.
One of the weakest film by David Lynch. But it's not really too bad.
In its year it wasnt that famous nowadays is considered a sci fi classic, a must see. Well I watched a bunch of times it's a great movie tho.
I haven't seen it but David Lynch is my favorite director so I'm sure it's not as bad as critics said.
I still cross my fingers and pray for the day someone makes a good Dune film. There have only been two I have seen so far: one was okay, though it didn't really do the book justice - the other had Patrick Stewart in it, and was eerily close to the book for about the first third of the book; but then it rushed through the last two thirds of the book in the final half-hour of the movie. Note that I don't know which this one is, as I'm not too keen on director names. I'm more an actor person, and I can't recall any names from the first one I mentioned. However, I have watched a three-part dub of Children of Dune, that's pretty good. I think the original is Russian. [editline]fish[/editline] This is the Children of Dune I mean. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0287839/ [editline]fish[/editline] Just looked it up, this is the one with Patrick Stewart. It was okay.
While I have never read the books I still found this movie entertaining, though the ending did seem a little lackluster. Also I never did understand why some random princess having nothing to do with the story was the narrator. Also those desert suits looked as awesome as the concept behind them (returning water to the body).
I haven't seen it but David Lynch is my favorite director so I'm sure it's not as bad as critics said.
Lynch said that he was very disappointed with the way Dune turned out. I don't blame him, he had to cut out so much just to fit it under 2 hours. I must say though, I did love the art design. The costumes were pretty awesome. Oh, and the soundtrack was good too. I liked the "twisted" kind of feel it had.
Bisyonure No Kimi
I haven't seen it but David Lynch is my favorite director so I'm sure it's not as bad as critics said.
No it's BAD [editline]02:06AM[/editline] I like David Lynch and I love Dune but they do not mix well
This is such a bad film
tbh the only things that don't suck are Patrick Stewart and the theme [editline]03:34AM[/editline] also, "mmmmm... SHAI-HULUD"
heard a lot about dune, think I might put it on my to watch list
Thuh Spoice!
captain jean-luc picard and sting are the only redeeming features of this terrible version of an awesome book.
I don't care what you people say, I've loved this movie since I was a kid.
Terrible movies shouldn't get threads. This was a boring and incomprehensible mess that didn't stay very close to its source material.
David Lynch have been know to walk out of interviews when someone brings up this movie.
captain jean-luc picard and sting are the only redeeming features of this terrible version of an awesome book.
Yeah, I thought Sting played Feyd-Rautha quite well.
actually, one other redeeming feature of the film was the sound track, or at least parts of it.
It's a film by David Lynch but it's not a David Lynch film.[/I}

Father! The sleeper has awakened!
Go back to bed, Paul.
Not really a good movie, from what I saw, but it does deserve its credit fo influencing and giving props to Westwood's Dune games.
It's okay. Don't know what you expected. It was a bit rushed I guess. The story is there, the characters are there, the designs were pretty much perfect and side from a few dated shots the effects are pretty much top notch. Acting wasn't half bad either.
Is that Sting?
The spice must flow.
Is that Sting?
Yes.
