What is this facepunch he mentions?
He's referring to how remarkably unpopular he was on Facepunch as a result of the tutorials he made leading to people making garbage maps. I can't say he's really wrong but I'm also not a mapper so I don't know much about it.

I am aware, particularly since he had a habit of making each video about one specific entity/tool/method, and he would quickly make an example map with a hollow cube skybox to showcase it, which is laggy and ineffective if done in larger maps.
That wasnt of course the point of many of his videos of course, he just wanted to demonstrate nodegraphs or something like that, but it ended up causing quite a few novices who watched him to follow his shortcuts to make actual "release" maps, which never ended well.
As someone who is familiar enough with the source engine to know how it compiles and renders things, the importance of visleafs, etc, I can spot a shortcut and know how/why to avoid it while focusing on the main point of his videos. Unfortunately, a lot of other people were not quite as aware and didnt know better.
I had no idea this guy even existed, but he does bring up good points. I wonder how long ago it was that he posted his tutorials here?
Yeah I remember the mapping section shitting on 3kliksphilip years and years ago. It's been forever since I've heard his name, but it seems like he's quite popular now.
I remember following his Hammer tutorials back in 2008. They were kinda helpful and thankfully I didn't pick up any bad habits.

It was around 07 - 09.
He brings up good points and he's right, but I'm kinda confused about what he's arguing against in Jim Sterling's video.
It seems like most of this video was talking about why Unity isn't responsible for bad games, but Jim's video was more about how Unity is responsible for hurting its brand through marketing-type decisions. Not because it's easily accessible.

Jim Sterling's point: Unity should collaborate with steam to do quality control on titles
3klik's: Unity should showcase good games made with unity and give 0 fucks about bad games, because they're going to happen regardless and it is not a bad thing that they exist, making games is fun.

Ah okay yeah I do remember that from the other video now that I think of it. It's definitely unreasonable to expect Unity to police the quality of things made with it.
I think I was confused because he started off with what Jim said about Unity's splash screen. Which I think is a valid point of how they've hurt themselves that doesn't have to do with policing stuff made with their engine.
Jim Sterling is like the epitome of an ideas guy. He'll go "steam and unity have to work together" but then not propose any real means of doing this. That's my largest takeaway from this video at least.
Sean Murray has some interesting points here.
It's almost like blaming pens or paint for bad drawings/paintings.
Unity is a tool and like all tools you can use them poorly or properly.
I like this Sean Murray look-alike.
I really just dislike how Sterling sensationalizes every issue he talks about. He treated this as if it was one of the biggest problems in the industry. The original tweets that Jim was talking about (but didn't even show in full) was talking about more or less the same thing this video is. The issue is that Unity has a bad image and people are avoiding otherwise good games simply because of the engine. Jim basically ignores the fact that it hurts developers by saying "I DON'T HAVE TO CARE ABOUT YOUR IMAGE OR SUCCESS". He is generally right that as a member of the games media he shouldn't change what he says based on how it affects the success of any particular developer. However, that's not what those tweets were sayings. They were saying that it is hurting the ability of smaller developers in general to find success in the industry, which IS something Jim should care about. Why would anyone want an industry where new names cannot succeed? Jim's video only served to shift the blame away from games coverage media and therefore away from himself.
In my opinion, Jim has created a lot of hostility towards indie developers. Many people I know think that Indie = Shit and that indie developers are somehow a bigger problem than the anti-consumer business practices that bigger developers use. While I don't think Jim is doing this intentionally, I find it odd that he talks so much about indie developers when there are so many bigger problems plaguing the industry and I think he should just tone down the sensationalism in his videos.

Let's be real though, Unity sets people up in a way that they're able to do bad games and think they've done something worth anyone's time.
Unity wouldn't be pen and paper, it would be a coloring book with erasable lines.
A solution would be to purge their 'learning' appendix and start fresh with good, up-to-date TEXT (with optional video) tutorials like these: http://catlikecoding.com/unity/tutorials/. And also integrate the learning process in the IDE in a seamless way, guiding the user through everything while proposing exercises and promoting implementing things as the student sees fit.
They should set the user up for high customization and effort by default, defaulting someone to the default controls, camera, movement, physics and letting them just grab a few assets and publish isn't helping anyone at all.
3klicks is fucking amazing honestly.
His CSGO content is some of the best in terms of myth busting and providing information.
also fart master

They (Unity) already does this, heck just go to their main page and there's an extensive showcase of competently made Unity games.

Unless you go there you wouldn't know about that, the point is that they should go out of their way to push their brand to the players. For instance, they could negotiate a splash screen on prominent titles.
Or maybe sponsor good indie games made with unity (i.e. "We like what you're building, how about you let us take care of development costs and you put a big 'made with unity' splash screen at the start?")
I'm no gamedev but I've tried doing small shit with Source, UE4 and Unity, and it's true that I wouldn't want people to know that I used Unity in those demos, but I wouldn't mind disclosing it was made with Source/UE4/other. People just automatically assume that "made with unity" means "downloaded from asset store and pieced together in a week"
love this guys fart vids
oh fuck it's 3kliks, I remember him from a long ass time ago

He runs 3 channels, 3kliks is for Counterstrike Videos, 2kliks for assorted stuff, and kliks is for his personal stuff.
I feel bad about how Facepunch bandwagoned against him, sometimes I'll search for an entity in hammer and an old vid he made will show up. They were good vids too.
he shouldn't blame us for learning bad habbits from him. Hey, i watched his tutorials along with tophattwaffle's and look at me, 7 years later i think hammer is the most easiest map editor and source is the most easiest engine to create assets for
