When I went there to go and buy Skyrim (that I had preordered) they tried all they could.
"Skyrim for PC please!"
"Did you preorder?"
"Yeah I did, here's my number..."
"Good, would you like to sign up for-"
"I want my game clean."
"Would you also like to-"
"Nah, I'd like my game clean."
"There's also-"
"Game. Clean."
"Alright sir."
Every time I walk into a Gamestop they employees are gaming on these plasma screen TV's over the counter and make me wait for them to get to a save point before they allow me to buy a game from them.
Edit: or when you bring a game to the counter in hopes of buying it they tell you its a horrible game and you should chose another one. I bought mass effect anyway fuck Gamestop's opinion/clerk guy
"How to scare customers away and blame piracy AND get publishers to believe the same bullshit"
Harassment seems very popular in the game sales department. Not only do we have obnoxious DRM from Ubisoft, we also have nice offer chains like Gamespot who happen to sell games on the side.
they got the selling used games part perfect.
they give you like 5 bucks for a game you bought for 60 dollars and then turn around and sell it again for 55 dollars.
Seriously, I say we spam fuck the gamestop Facebook page and help email with this video, see if they like.

For a 60$ game you get about 30$ in store credit. Then they sell it for around 50$. I really dont think its all that bad of a deal. I just did it recently with Battlefield 3 and bought Skyrim. Gamestop catches a awful lot of shit but your not gonna get a better deal many other places.
I have to agree with the part where selling old games only gives you like $5. I went in to trade in Dragon Ball: Raging Blast and they offered me $6 for it, and they were selling it there for like $29. (plus tax, of course)
Of course, I didn't take their shitty offer.
Sounds about right.

Your gamestop must be breaking rules, because they were accurate in the video. 6 bucks for a 60 dollar title that they resell used for 50. Happens at every gamestop I have ever been at.
My local gamestop is pretty lax about "Corporate Policy" yeah they ass rape you when trading in games but most of the time I have to ask them about their current deals and what not. Could be in part due to the fact that I've been going to the same location for video games since before gamestop.
I had an old game and they bought it for literally 15 cents.

The guy actually told me when I bought the game if I returned it by dec I would get 30 dollars in store credit. I did the same thing with dead island the day after BF3 came out. And then as mentioned before I traded in BF3 for another 30 dollars and got Skyrim. This was between two different gamestops aswell.
What 60$ game did you get six bucks back for? And where was it.
My god you people over exaggerate.
I've been buying a lot of games in hardcopy recently and i've been going to gamestop.
A typical purchase is usually just
"Yeah i'd like this please"
"Okay, do you have a powerup rewards card?"
"Nah"
"well then if you'd like to sign up here's a pamphlet, it's actually pretty useful if you shop here alot"
"Okay"
"Well your total is 60, here's your receipt, my name is at the bottom if you want to go online and review my performance for 5$ off your next purchase.
"Kay"
That simple, nothing intrusive or bothersome. Most people also don't seem to realize that they are REQUIRED often by contract to push these reward cards and store events onto you or they lose their job. It's not like they're taking personal benefit and joy from torturing you with shit you don't need. Where i work, we had to sign a contract that said that we need to sell our rewards program and if we don't we are fired. A lot of people have been getting fired.
Also game stop's rewards program is actually very useful, i signed up for the free one and have been getting all sorts of deal, and since signing up for the card and giving them my email address in august, i've gotten 2 emails from there. I don't know where this "WERE GON SPAM YO'S EMAIL LOL" shit is coming from.

Your gamestop sucks then, at my local ones, if the game is still new, like a month or so, you get around like 40% of it's value.
If the game is old then you get 5 bucks and when you think about that, even that's good. You just 5 bucks, that's 5 dollars more than you had when all you were holding was a game you haven't played in years.
The only thing that's unfair is the fact that they usually sell those preowned new games for 45$ pc, and 55$ new. But that's because they want you to buy the new one so they get more money. As for old games they buy them from you for 5 bucks, then sell them for 15-20 bucks.
But that's because they want you to buy the new one so they get more money.
This statement is false.
Game clean?
Fresh factory copy. Some people don't like getting used copies because they could be utterly shit condition. Seems the employee tried doing a whole bunch of attempts for different Gamestop stuff and used copies or the like.
Nothing makes me more mad than when they keep on trying to get you to pre-order stuff.
If i'm there to pre-order something, i'll pre-order it. If i want your retarded magazine, i'll buy it. Just shut up.

If the game JUST came out i doubt they'd even have preowned copies.
I only found a preowned copy of a game that came that day only once, it was red dead redemption and that was because the guy who bought it only played sports games and hated it after playing it for 15 minutes.
The worst part of all this is that it's not the employee's fault, so yelling at them accomplishes nothing. They're forced to do this bullshit or risk losing their job. I've had ex-GameStop employees tell me all about how they used to have great people who wouldn't push shit on customers...and those are the people who lost their jobs. They have to shove pre-order offers down your throat, because if they don't meet their weekly quota, someone's getting in trouble.
It's less them being intentionally annoying and more a muffled scream for help...which makes me feel doubly terrible about just being there at all. If GameStop doesn't have some UNBELIEVABLE deal on something, I never set foot in that place. It treats both customers and employees like shit.

The internet is amazing for all kinds of purchases. No more dealing with annoying salespeople just to get one little item.
This is definitely an exaggeration, though the used games thing is true. Why take it to gamestop and get ripped off when you can sell it yourself and reap 100% profit?

It's not an exaggeration at all I went through the exact same thing the other day apart from the dick slapping

It wasn't always a part of Gamestop. They were one of the first major Videogame retail stores.
