Great video. And I hate those comments about "LOL wut? 5,000 likes and 300 views. wutthefuckyoutube urterrbad" Fuck off. I had a general hunch that it was a verification system, but it's great hearing it from the source. Youtube has the greatest record of not-answering-questions so it's good to see this.
Yeah I hate those 301/302/303/304 viewer lolz! thumbs up if ur da 304th viewer!!!
<=300 lol
The camera angle durring the interview with the Google employee in the beginning makes me uncomfortable.
I thought using goto was a bad practice.
I thought using goto was a bad practice.
It's just an example, they'd never use goto :v: (also yes, it is)
THIS IS SPARTA VIEWS. THUMBS UP PLS
I thought using goto was a bad practice.
It probably isn't the exact code statement in reality, he probably just wrote that so he wouldn't have to come up with a name for a subroutine.
I've always been mildly curious about this but never inquisitive enough to seek out the answer. Thanks for posting this, I feel enlightened!
I wonder what it means if I have never seen a video's view-count freeze around 300, I have never seen videos with more likes than views, and I have never seen any comments related to 300 views, like you guys are talking about. :v:
lol, This has never been a secret. I remember getting pissed about my videos freezing at 301 back in '07 and I just Google'd it and there was a similar explanation.
What I want to know is why the Reply Girls are still there and making tons of money.
"THUMBS UP IF YOU ARE 301 VIEWER HERPA DERP"
Remove Youtube comments all together. Get rid of the idiots. I don't even comment unless it's a video where they are like "Okay, so leave a comment or response to the video for a chance to win X" then I'll just say something related. But it's so crazy that how fast the comments move on some videos and that people will still get angry and debate each other on there...
Is it just me or does he look exactly like Professor Moriarty?
What I want to know is why the Reply Girls are still there and making tons of money.
I was at a YouTube partners meeting in Stockholm a few months ago, they said they're working on getting rid of the reply girls. Or at least the profitability.

I don't like how close the camera was zoomed. I could see every detail on the mans face.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the non-YouTube guy incorrectly explains the reason behind the '301' view counter. From the way he described it he made it seem like the predicate was wrongly coded which meant it allowed an extra view count on because '<= 300'. Therefore an extra view was able to sneak on while the view count was still at 300. Whereas in the actual code what was at fault was the increment counter or 'vc++' because once the predicate was satisfied it still had to perform the code within the loop therefore it increments to 301. Maybe I'm just splitting hairs here. Or I'm just plain misinterpreting that guy.
The camera angle durring the interview with the Google employee in the beginning makes me uncomfortable.
Especially full screen on a 24 inch monitor when your leaning on your desk a little too close and he pops up.
