Selangor religious affairs executive councillor Ahmad Yunus Hairi has called on mosques throughout the state to hold solat hajat (special prayers) to pray for the cancellation of Selena Gomez's upcoming concert in Shah Alam. "All mosques in Selangor have been ordered to hold solat hajat after Friday prayers or whenever it is appropriate", before the concert is held to pray to Allah in hopes that the concert will be cancelled. "(May) our beloved Selangor not be struck with disasters, and the concert organisers enlightened by Allah," the PAS leader said in a statement today. Ahmad Yunus' order is in conflict with Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali's remarks that there is nothing wrong with the concert as long as it gets the proper clearance. PAS had protested the concert claiming that Gomez is too sexy.
https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/349507 Funny shit happening in my state right now :v:
One thing to protest a concert or declare it illegal on religious terms, but this is the first time i've ever seen somebody call for prayers to have one canceled.
PAS had protested the concert claiming that Gomez is too sexy.
What's with conservative religion being so prude? If your god(s) didn't want you to appreciate the human body they wouldn't have made it something to enjoy. I really do wonder what the crusty old 'prophets' writing up these backwards religious texts all those centuries ago were thinking.

Haven't really read that shit, but really it's a matter of society. Not all "Islamic countries" are the same either. But if Ahmad Yunus Hairi doesn't want Selena Gomez to be prancing around the stage, giving all the teenage girls in the audience some vile ideas, then.. I guess I can see where he's coming from, and in respect I can see his concern.

Not wanting to go all feminist on you but it dates back to Assyrian law codes where a woman's value was her purity, it helped establish them as property of men. Also the origin of the veil and the origin of prostitution being a sinful thing where previously it,and sex in general, had been considered almost holy (in Gilgamesh sex is used to civilise a man where all else failed and the early temple warehouse societies had priestesses as sort of holy prostitutes)
What a bunch of sissies lmao
praying the haram away
